I always thought au pairs were expensive, too, but they cost about what we are paying to send two kids to day care full time, and the cost is per house, not per kid, so if you have more than two, it becomes more affordable than day care or a nanny.
The family I used to babysit for now use one and they are very fond of their au-pair. The website they used were https://www.aupairinamerica.com/ . Good luck!
I had a few growing up and loved them as did my parents. Most of them were from England and one from Germany. They were kind and loving and we kept in touch with a few as I got older and didn't need a sitter any more. If I didn't have my mom to watch LO I would consider one for sure. I know it's the opposite view but as a kid I loved it.
Thank you all for your feedback! We're going to look into it because it seems like a more affordable option now that baby #3 is now the way than paying for full-time day care for three little ones!
