X-Ray to check for Hip Displasia?

Has anyone had to take their LO in for an X-ray to check for Hip Displasia? What was your experience? DD2 had her 1 year appointment today, and the doctor noticed that her hips were clicking when he checked them, so he has referred her to get an X-ray. Not looking forward to it as he said it will probably be a bit of challenge getting her into the position that they need. DD1 had an ultrasound when she was a baby to check for hip displasia because she was breech.

I did what you shouldn't do, and Googled it.. If they find she does have hip displasia now, it is so much harder to fix. I am nervous, so any T&Ps you have would be appreciated.

I haven't had this experience, but I wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through it. Hopefully they find out it is nothing.

Did they not check at earlier appointments? I thought it was very uncommon to notice it this late in the game.

Ironically, I have an xray order in my car from DD's one year appointment on Monday. She has asymmetrical folds. So I don't have any advice, but I feel you.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. My LO was diagnosed with hip dysplasia a few days after birth. They heard her hips clicking the day she was born and an ultrasound confirmed it four days later. She had to wear a harness for four months. She continues to go for check-ups to make sure everything is still developing properly. Like PP said, I would think they would have caught it prior to this, so hopefully it's nothing. The X-rays she's had haven't been too difficult and go fairly quickly. I'll think good thoughts that everything is okay!

Yes, he did check in previous appointments, and he didn't notice it before. And the doctor also thought it was pretty odd to be seeing this late in the game.

DD was sent for an x-ray for this at 9 months bc of asymmetrical folds. All was fine, and she still has the asymmetrical folds. Fingers crossed for you!
