Re: Mats for 1 year old

  • I highly recommend the Wildkin ones on amazon. They come in different colors and prints. We had a cheaper one before and it did not hold up well.

  • When we switched DC's it timed with moving up to the toddler room.  Because we were switching, there was no transitioning between rooms and schedules.  He just went straight to the mat at the new DC.  The first week the teachers did have to sit with him while he learned that it was nap time so he wouldn't wander, but he's been great ever since and still in his crib at home.  Not sure a mat is really necessary at home.  DC should be able to help with this.
  • The schools DS has gone to provide a mat (for a fee). DD naps on a cot with a sheet (DCP provides sheet). Did you ask the school?
DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

I second this 100%. The one from DS1 has held up really well for 3 years. We got one for DS2 as well. The daycare workers love it as well - so much easier than sheets and pillows.

  • I have the Pottery Barn Kids shaggy nap mats for both of my girls. I wanted something good quality since they will be using them daily and so far so good. My center is fine with nap mats or a fitted sheet, pillow, and blanket.
  • Thanks ladies! Id rather purchase our own stuff and his school actually told us to purchase this.
I imagine we'll try getting him used to it at 15 mos. They will start to use it at 16 mos in prep for the toddler classroom.

    Thanks again!
