Insomnia, Thursday Night Edition

I'm going a little insane tonight because DH kept getting all up in my space in bed, and breathing really heavily, and he has gas. Annoying! So I go lay on the couch, but I can't stay here because there's an alarm clock (apparently battery operated) going off in my garage and I can hear it beeping but can't get to it. It's buried in a box that has a bunch of other boxes stacked on it. It's been going off for almost an hour and I CAN'T IGNORE IT ANYMORE. So now I have a decision to make...go hang out next to MouthBreather McFarty Pants or slowly be driven mad by incessant, tinny beeping?

Annnnyway. Anyone else awake? Come, share your troubles.

Bonus: just for kicks and giggles, share with us your most embarrassing moment. I'm sure everyone has one :D Reach all the way back to middle school if you have to!

Re: Insomnia, Thursday Night Edition

  • Aww. I am so sorry you are stuck picking farty space taker or annoying alarm sound. It's already hard enough for you to sleep and be comfortable. I would go with option C. Wake your husband up and tell him to sleep on the couch. That's a win!

I am up pumping and feeding the little one. He is going through a growth spurt so he eats like I do and refuses to sleep for longer than 1.5 hours. I don't want to complain though. He is worth it. It's just hard.

I can't think of my most embarrassing moment because there have been so many, but my most recent one was a week before my due date. I was late for a beach weddin so I was rushing to my seat. Everyone was watching and I lost my footing and almost fell on my face. I was so embarrassed but played it off like it was NBD. I died inside.

I almost didn't recognize you without your avatar. What the crap. Not cool. I'm sorry you aren't sleeping much! I hope the little guy gives you a break soon! I bet his cute little face just melts your heart, though. :)

I'm just going to suck it up and deal with the farty husband... I just don't have the heart to wake him up and make him move. He's a pretty hard sleeper, anyway, so it'd be tough to do. But he's a carpenter and owns his business and since we want him to have time off when baby comes, he's been putting in reaaally long days lately. He already works way too hard (physically exhausting, ten hour days, usually six days a week), and I can tell he's pushing it right now because he leaves by 6am, doesn't get home until after 7pm, and pretty much just falls onto the couch exhausted every evening. He really deserves good sleep. I can and do sleep for large parts of the day, so I don't want to be selfish at night...
Maybe I can get him to stop flailing around if I push him hard enough toward his own side of the bed. He loves my Snoogle, though, and every freaking time I get up to go to the bathroom, he's hugging it! He cracks me up. It's a constant battle for space!

I'm trying to think of a good embarrassing story to tell. I know I have lots, but the thing is, when I think of one, I rehash it in my head and it doesn't seem like a big deal anymore. Perspective is such a good thing, don't you think?? I love that I'm not still horrified at what an awkward teenager I probably was.

  • Ugh how annoying!! Bad gas all around! Sorry!

I'm up feeding LO. Had to switch to formula for a 4 day trial and pretty sad about it. Ps formula smells! Anyways I have to pump to keep my supply up if we end up going back. On top of it all my LO is constipated. Been over 24 hrs since he's pooped. :( hate this.

Most embarrassing moment... I have lots. The first one I thought of was me in college riding my bike w a friend through an open shopping area and ran into a light pole. The bike had a basket on the front which I had some books etc sitting in it. Everything went flying into the street, myself included. People came running over to help me and my friend kept going! She had no idea I had decided to meet the pavement! Whoops!
  • I've been up feeding Isabelle nonstop since 10:30... its now 2 here. As soon as she falls asleep and I put her down, she wakes up wanting more food or comfort.

Most embarrassing moment would have to be my DH telling me after LO was born that I pooped while pushing. Had it not been a stressful delivery I would have been mortified during the time.

  • @313meg: aww, falling while biking is awful! It probably looks worse than it is most of the time so people rush over. I always feel awkward and want them to go away! Sympathy from people makes me cry...

@camibutterworth: why oh why would your H share that with people?? Oh my gosh! Okay, tomorrow I'm having a talk with my H. "Just in case it isn't clear, if I poop, don't tell people about it. Kthanks." Haha

I have no idea what happened to my avatar. I just saw it was gone after I posted tonight. That's sweet of you to consider your husband. I talk a good to, but I would so the same thing. H is a cop so I would rather he sleep well and be on his A game every day. My husband is a flailer on a regular basis and it fot so bad he has to take an herbal suppliment that helps you sleep better. He sleeps so much better now and doesn't bother me as much.

  • I thought of one. Not my most embarrassing ever, but still... The year after I graduated high school, I babysat one of my former teacher's daughters a couple of afternoons a week while she taught a class at the university in town. Her husband is a funny guy, always joking around, definitely the kind of person to give you crap about EVERYTHING. He just teases all the time. Well, one day I locked my keys in my car, so I went back up to the house and asked him for help because I didn't know what to do. He came out and walked around my car and tried the passenger door, which was unlocked. Man did I feel stupid. Of course my sputtering, "I never unlock that door! I don't know why it wouldn't be locked!" fell on deaf ears and now, five years later (yeah, I'm still close with a high school teacher and her family five years later...her daughter was my flower girl. I'm a nerd...) he still brings it up. He always says, "man, I wasn't too sure about you back then! I didn't know if I should be trusting my two year old to your care!" Gah. Yup, a little embarrassing.

  • I'm up for a bit, feeding the twins and pumping. One would think I have 4 arms right now. I'm half kicking myself for not grabbing a lactation cookie I made (bonus points for me?) and now I'm far too lazy to get up and get it.

Embarrassing moment? I have many and most start with "this one time when I was drunk..." Le sigh.
  • I am up with severe back pain . I decided if I was going to be up I might as well call my coworkers on the night shift. I just took 2 Tylenol and Benadryl just now . Can't wait to get this baby out; officially 40 weeks tomorrow .
  • I have been up nursing non stop since 2. It is nights like these that make me want to quit. And the worst part is that it is mostly comfort nursing and she isn't really eating at all. I tried a soother, she just spits it out. And then she falls asleep at the boob so you go lay her down and she suddenly realizes the midnight snack bar is gone. Sigh.
  • I just made a post about it, but DD just spit up a lot directly into my cleavage. I guess it's a good thing my boobs are giant so they caught all of it, nothing ran down further. Now she's hungry again--she spit most of it out. Awesome.

Embarrassing moment: when I was in HS I dated someone on the wrestling team. In the band room (yes I'm a band geek) one evening he tried this move on me called banana split. I immediately started farting and couldn't stop. I ran out of there as fast as I possibly could. I never heard a word about it so who knows if they all heard or not...but I'll never forget that moment.

Still awake next to a mouth breather as well. I have to get up in 4 hrs.. Ugh

Anyway last year.. Maybe a little over a year ago It was a friday or saturday night. I got all dressed up. The hair, make up, awesome outfit. I thought I was looking gooood. I was on the bus in this stupid hipster part of town on my way to some stupid hipster bar, surrounded by stupid hipster skinny jean wearing, side swept banged ass hats (I had 0 room to talk) I got to trot off the bus in with my nose so high up in the air and BOOM landed on my face in a sea of friday night, drunk, skinny jeaned, 21 yr olds. One nice guy did help me up. Why didn't a giant dildo roll out of my purse? It would've made things much more interesting.. It was pretty.... humbling. I was bruised and mortified.
  • I'm up nursing too. I gave in earlier and tried a pacifier it seemed to help so much that we had 2 three hour stretches in between feeding and I actually feel somewhat rested. I made DH agree to all these crazy rules so hopefully it won't be an issue because she is feeding really well so far.
Embarrassing. That could be almos anything though I'll stick with today when we took her to the doc first appt and she was really hungry by the time we got there so I fed her as soon as we got in the room but the nurse wanted me to bring her to get weight which she assured me was right outside of the door so I went out with her and my shirt was open and bra was down and I ran into some man. Prob a dad waiting but still a little stupid for not buttoning up!

  • I'm up thinking about my c-section and trying not to freak out. T minus 7.5 hours! I woke up to eat a meal and watch the second half of Grey's and now I can't fall back asleep. I have a mouth breather husband too, so that's definitely not helping.

Embarrassing moment: I was at a Super Bowl party one year and had left the tv room to go get a beer from the kitchen. When I came back the team I was cheering for was running the ball all the way back down the field so I was screaming and jumping up and down, only I noticed everyone was looking at me funny and being really quiet. Turns out it was a clip from a previous (totally different) game they were highlighting. Stupid football making me look all dumb...

@HBirdie my DH is sleeping in the guest room. He "needed a couple hours of uniterrupted sleep" and I wasn't allowing him to do that due to my need to grunt and moan with every move ;-)

Embarrassing moment? Just recently I left a fundraiser event with my dress tucked in my nylons. I do a lot of dumb stuff. But I forget about it easy as well.

  • Ugh, I'm here. LO decided to be wide awake right now, I have mouth breather DH that his breath smells like beer breathing on me, and my oldest keeps flailing around in bed with us, not able to find a good position. I think the couch may be calling my name.

  • I agree! Redhead yours takes the cake!
@shaunamae87 yours reminded me of a time when there was alcohol involved and we were out at a club. (I hate clubs) And Michael Jackson came on and of course I imagine I'm on dancing with the stars and start breaking out all these dance moves. Who knows where they came from?! I don't dance like that! Well I did a drop and pop and whaddya know. Split my favorite pants from the crotch to the top of my butt!!!! No more drop and pops and Michael Jackson moves are no good for me!

Oh sweetie. I hope your back pain goes away after you deliver. I had terrible back pain at the end. I get some pretty bad back pains now sometimes too, but I think most of it is my bad posture when I feed and pump.

  • It's not technically night anymore but I'll play. In 9th grade, I was roller blading down my street hoping to see this boy I had a huge crush on. I thought I was looking super fit (in roller blades, really? Lol) and right as I came across him, I rolled through some mud and face planted right into a huge mud pile. He didn't seem impressed, but he did help me up...

Awww man! It always happens in front of the cute boy, doesn't it. :P

But, uh, rollerblading is cool again, right? Because I love to rollerblade and found a pair my size at a thrift shop last year...
