Non toxic cleaners

Hi Ladies...

So my little monkey has decided he loves to chew on the handle of my stove drawer and it's stainless steel.  I've been cleaning it with a stainless steel cleaner but now that he decides it's something to put in his mouth I'm nervous and want something that cleans that type of surface without any chemicals.  Any suggestions?

  • I use babyganics products.  It can be used on the high chair and I'm not worried about DS consuming it. They can be found at babies r us.

  • I'd say vinegar. If you want something that's a disinfectant Nature Clean makes a hospital grade disinfectant from thyme oil-completely safe.

  • vinegar disinfects just as well as bleach

  • Another vote for Babyganics.
Can't stand the smell of vinegar

  • Thanks ladies! I tried vinegar on the stainless and it works really well. I also made a wood polish out of olive oil and lemon juice since he chews on our wooden tables.  That worked great also! I steam clean my floors and use a mixture of dawn dishsoap, vinegar and hot water to clean the bathroom and I couldn't be happier about not having chemical cleaners in the house.

What ratio of vinegar to water do you use for countertops/stainless?
Also--would you mind sharing your ratio for the bathroom cleaner you mentioned?
    TIA
  • Has anyone used the Norwex line of cleaning supplies? It seems to be all the rage lately but I've yet to try it myself. Reviews?
  • I just use plain vinegar for the stainless/counters and wipe with a dry cloth and it works great

For bathroom cleaner I fill half a spray bottle with the blue dawn dish liquid and then a quarter of vinegar and a quarter warm water and shake it up

For the wood polish I used 3/4 of a cup of olive oil and 1/4 lemon juice
