It's not that hard to do

I need to go off on a rant. I am the mom that looks and judges when I see the chest harness not in the correct spot or the straps way too loose. It literally goes right through me! It is not that difficult to strap your child into the car seat the correct way.

My sister has three kids, her youngest is 2.5 years old, she has his straps way too loose and the chest piece is down by his belly button. I said something before, but she is the type that doesn't like to be told how to parent...which I'm pretty sure most of us are that way. This issue though, needs to be addressed.

I saw a lady today with a newborn, I could have fit my fist through the gap because she had it too loose.

DRIVES ME CRAZY!!! For the safety of your baby, PUT THE CHEST HARNESS LEVEL WITH THE ARMPITS!! You should not be able to pinch any of the fabric strap either, if you can, it's too loose.

Anyone else livid when they see this?

Re: It's not that hard to do

  • Everyone should be required to come to the bump and watch someone get flamed off their BMB for incorrect sarseat safety.

I am appalled how often I see children who should be in a carseat just sitting in the car with nothing. The other thing I see is INFANT carriers turned around. WTAF is wrong with people?? Either that kid is too big for that seat and should have moved to a convertible or is way too small to even consider FF.

Shows like Teen Mom 3 don't help either. I saw an episode yesterday that had a 6 month old baby in an infant carrier facing forward!

OMG!  I don't watch those shows, but I would think that the producers would put a little pop-up bubble on the screen that says something about the correct way to install a carseat, etc.

I've actually been flammed IRL by DH's coworker for having the straps too tight (in her opinion).

  • So many times watching Breaking Bad I was like, "ughhh, fix the car seat!" I have started looking at every baby to see if the straps are right. I need to chill!
  • I just want to fix the straps myself when I see it!

This was the family of the little boy I used to take care of. For long trips none of the kids would be in car seats just so they could drive in one car. 5 kids (4 should have been in some type of restraint) and 4 adults in a small minivan. They would never listen to me.
