I'm having one of those weeks where I just want to go on vacation so bad but me staying home now doesn't allow for it. I've been home for 2 years. I have a 3yo and twin almost 2yo's. so I probably will stay home until they're in school.
Just a big struggle right now wanting all the extras. I feel like I'm always questioning was this the right thing now that we're living so tight.
Re: Missing the extra $ :(
I guess I just wonder if these battling feelings for us sahm's are normal?
I work part time evenings to keep the extras like vacations, dinners out, and activities for the kids. I is well worth it. I work Wednesdays and sat nights currently from 6-11p waiting tables. Are Thursdays kind of rough? Sure. It's well worth one day of sleepiness and missing two hours of the kids being awake a week to be able to have a better quality of life free of stresses over money and living so tight we don't get to get out and enjoy life. Even if you found a minimum wage, retail gig for 10 hours a week you'd take home an extra $60 a week (roughly) after taxes. That's over 3,000 a year(and you could make up to triple that waiting tables)--plenty for some vacationing.
And you can try having 3 babies in 18 months and see how easy it is
OP, what exactly are you looking for here? Were you just looking to vent or were you looking for advice? Your comments to amy#s kind of rubbed me the wrong way, seems like you are unhappy but are not looking to change the situation.
If you want all the extras then you should probably look for work, but it dosn't seem you want to do that because you don't want to give up your nights and weekends. That would have been my advice.
Right. OP, if you are constantly posting vents then we are going to get the impression that you are just not happy with your life. We can only go by what you tell us.
Those of you who work part time. What do you do? I have heard serving and retail. Thanks
@dizzykates
I was a substitute teacher and would love to do it every now and then. My question is where does your kid go during the day? Do you have a family or friend that would take them on short notice?

I mentioned I work in a restaurant. I have irl friends that work in gym daycare, teach dance or yoga, or work in their pre-baby field on a more limited basis like in accounting. Other ideas besides what's been already mentioned that accommodate night and/or weekend work are temp agencies, call centers, grocery store, hotels, hospitals, real estate offices, apartment complexes.
