TTC After a Loss

For those thinking about doing unmonitored clomid cycles

Because this issue seems to come up more than it should I am posting this link to the current discussion about using clomid unmonitored that is occurring on TTGP (tickers/baby pics in siggies): click here

The discussion does go sideways and I am not asking any of you to take part in that discussion - but there is some really good information about why you should not ever do a clomid cycle with out proper monitoring - which includes multiple u/s.

Please note the comment by our grad @AllieSchur who is an u/s tech who used to work in ob/gyn. Also look at this for a real example of why monitoring is so important.

I read your title and thought the post would read.... your crazy.

But I agree it has been popping up often. Hopefully ladies will listen as it is for their own good. Thanks for linking Bug.
"You are crazy" would be the short version. Many, many moons ago I had an OB that had me do 3 cycles of clomid. A year later I had an ovary that was twice as large as the other one and ended up being removed.  Of course, the new OB was not able to say if the clomid caused the complications I was having but, looking back on it now with what I know, definitely possible.

And it did fuck up my fertility.

  • Thanks for posting this! My OB gave me the Rx for Clomid and I haven't taken it (we were planning to wait til Oct/Nov) but there was no mention of monitoring. I didn't know what "monitoring" included so I wanted to be informed before I asked the OB to do it.

  • Thanks so much for posting!  My OB mentioned putting me on Clomid if I have a couple more anovulatory cycles.  I'm not sure if they monitor, and while I knew it was recommended I hadn't researched to see the reasons why.  Now, I will make sure to go back to my RE if they do not!

You are right...that went south pretty quickly...just wow!!!

  • Wow, I have never been offered Clomid so haven't had to do research on it but I am glad you posted this. Other chat groups make it seem like regular doctors prescribe this all the time and never mention monitoring, that's scary!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! Women need to be more educated in this drug. My old OBGYN put me on clomid without monitoring (he literally handed it out like candy) & then my current OB put me on it after I had my first lap. I am so nervous that this will cause more serious problems later. What's done is done but I wish I had known more about it. I just trusted that my dr.'s knew how to handle this drug,

    The thread is gone :((

I found one of your replies that had a link to it and it no longer works. Apparently, it was lost in the conversion.
