2nd Trimester

Come on, seriously??!! (kind of long)

So yesterday I went to get my nails and toes done. I was almost through w/ my nails when a mom and her young daughter came in.
The mom immidiatly said

"We need to get our nails done"--so I thought maybe the little girls nails needed to be painted or w/e...

The nail guy looked at the little girl and said 'What color do you want?"

The little girl replied "FRENCH!"

The mom said "Oh she doesnt want just paint, she wants a FULL SET!" The nail tech looked down at the little girl again and said "How old are you?"

She said I'm 6!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost feel outta my chair. The nail tech looked back at the mom and said "Mam' her nails are really to tiny for this and shes sorta young"...

The mom just replied "Shes had it done B4" SO needless to say the little girl sat down and began to tell the nail tech what she wanted etc...NOW is it just me OR are little girls growing up TO FAST!? Hello...shes barley in Kindergarden or 1st grade! Let her be a child!!!!

I think its ok to take your kid to get her nails painted and even her toes, BUT A FULL SET OF FAKE NAILS????!!!!!!

Come on!!!!

  • Ma'am, you're going to need a ticker.  ::hands out second Report and Repair ticket of the day::

    (And yes, that's totally tacky)

  • Its probably the same mom who lets their elementary school aged daughter get a spray tan for school picture day. Ugh.
  • You are absolute right.  I see a lot of little girls with their nails painted and that isn't a big deal but a set of FAKE ones? Do they even make them that little? It sounds like the nail tech was hesitant and probably should have said the company policy is that clients need to be at least XX age.
  • Seriously? Wow, not my 6 year old..nope.

    I can not believe that...

    super tacky!

  • My mom never ever took me, I ended up going by myself b/f Prom.  Totally agree that kids are growing up too early.  In my head I already have it that for 1st communtion, she'll get her ears pierced (if she wants) and I don't think I'll take her to a nail salon until maybe 6th grade graduation or something.
  • Anyone been to Disney and seen all the little 6 year olds being glitzed and glammed up as princesses?  I get it, that 6 year olds like princesses and may even want to emulate them.  But is it necessary to put them in corset-back dresses, plastic high heels, hair extensions and glitter make up?  ::shudders::

Well duh!! I think the deranged llama is appropriate in this situation. I could get a pregnant cop..lol.

  • When I used to teach preschool there was always a girl or two who would wear her plastic princess shoes as her real shoes for the day-- even in the colder months.  Then we would go outside to the playground and they would click and clack all over the pebbled playground with their shoes falling off.  I can understand the desire to wear cute shoes, but you can find real shoes that are ruby slippers or have princess "stuff" on them, without the risk of injury from tripping or the back problems from trying to play kickball in plastic high heels.

  • That is ridiculous. Am I going to be the "mean mom" now if I have a girl and don't let her get fake nails or a spray tan when she's in elementary school. BS. I wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced until I was 13 and I had to go to the Dr. to do it.

ITA!  I was having a "situation" the other day with a female friend that did one of those stupid things that remind me of high school behavior, and I couldn't help but think that I was glad that my little boy would never have to navigate the world of the 14 year old girl-- excpet to try to date some of them. (That is a weird thought too.)  I know that boys have their own set of issues, but it is not as conniving and people don't pretend to be your friend and then stab you in the back in the same way.

  • Pre-preg I was on an Adult open co-ed all-star cheerleading team and you wouldnt believe how many little girls have their nails done belly buttons pierced and their hair dyed!! I was shocked, and disgusted that parents would allow their kids get that stuff done!

  • Trying out my flashy new ticker!

Ugh, sounds like a real brat.  I can't help but roll my eyes at kids like that and hope the mother sees me!

Oh, it's sooo not the kid that needs to get schooled.

  • I was not allowed to wear any makeup until I was 13 and I could not get a full set of nails until I was 16 (and believe me I really wanted them!!)

Well I am not a huge makeup person and I now only get mani/pedi instead of the tips. I guess after wanting them so bad it was a sort of downer when I got them and it tought me that I just didn't care enough to continue.

  • even *I* don't get a full set and I am WAY older than 6!
