Hubby's odd (and NEW!) behavior since baby...

My husband is such an awesome dad.  He loves our 5 week old baby girl, and being a new daddy, I know that he is secretly stressed out.  Before LO he never held a baby or changed a diaper, and I was both a babysitter and a nanny during high school and college, so the fussing, crying, general baby "stuff" does not stress me out very much.
Since I have known DH, he has never walked or talked in his sleep, but since LO has arrived on the scene, every night is a new episode of freaky-deaky over here at our house.  It started the second night we were home.  I woke up and DH was hunched over in the middle of the bed talking to LO, looking down at her and rocking her.  When I glanced over in her bassinet, I noticed she was IN IT.  DH was holding an imaginary baby!  This happened almost every night for the first week.  He also gets up, puts on his glasses, walks over to her bassinet and checks on her repeatedly through the night with no recollection the next morning.
The latest and most annoying thing he's been doing is digging around in the blankets next to me accusing me of rolling over on her, even though she doesn't sleep in the bed.  Ugh.
I get the whole "being stressed out" thing, but now he's freaking me out when he wakes me from my limited sleep to accuse me of steam rolling our newborn.  Is this a normal new dad thing?  Has anyone else experienced anything like it?  Do I have to deal with this until she turns 20, or will it eventually end?

    Omg! My husband does the same thing - he thinks any lump in the bed is DD even though she is now sleeping in her nursery every night! It's bad enough being woken by LO but now I'm woken by DH too :)

    Haha my DH does something similar. He jumps up and starts ripping the pillows off the bed, patting around feeling for her. I normally am up feeding her anyway, so I just calmly say "umm she's fine honey!" I hate when I'm asleep too though b/c then I jump up and go "WHAT?? WHAT?"

    It does pass (for us at least), but he's done it with each one. Guess it's just a little (creepy) window into how much they care :)

    Wow, that sounds familiar. Only with DS, it was ME doing this every night. I would wake up repeatedly in a panic, patting around the bed looking for him. This went on for awhile, unfortunately. It became less and less frequent, but it probably still happened up until about a year... Didn't know this happened to others as well. Funny it seems like it's usually the man, though!

    DS has *never ever* been in our bed and DH would wake up and say that one of the lumps was him and that one of us had squished him. It must be a *thing*. I would just look at him like he had two heads. 

     Anniversary
    When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.

    I'm actually the one doing this at our house. Every time DH rolls over in bed I'm grabbing onto him thinking it's the baby falling out of bed. Last night I heard baby crying and in my half asleep state, I was throwing pillows of the bed trying to find him. It has been so strange.

    My DH did some of the same things. I think it's the lack of sleep and stress of figuring out a new baby. Whenever he's over tired he does stuff like this--mostly when he's sick. Last night he woke me up and demanded that I give him $12---then laughed like a crazy person. This morning he had no clue he had done it.

    I think maybe it's sleep deprivation. My husband has never done anything like this. However, he has had whole conversations with me that he had no recollection of later on. And sometimes he seemed extremely disoriented in the middle of the night. As LO got older and slept longer, so did my DH, and this happens much less often now.
