baby won't nap for more than 10 min. at a time :(

I am giving up.  I have tried everything.  She is never happy anymore (cries all day long) because she's so tired and its starting to make me go crazy.  I drive her in my car she sleeps until the car stops or may sleep in the house but wakes up after 5 min.  I rock her, it takes an hour to fall asleep and when I finally put her down she wakes up.  I take her for walks and when we get home she wakes up.  I miss my happy princess.  I guess I am a terrible mother because I don't even know how to get my own child to sleep.  I ask people for advice and all they tell me is it's normal for them to not nap.  I don't think this is normal.

     She wakes up every 3 hours at night and sleeps for a total of only 8-9 hours

    Wonder week? It's not you, it's her. You're not a bad mom, she's just a new baby.

    Aside from all that, have you asked a dr?

    Have you tried holding her for naps? I've had to do that with my little one in order for him to get a decent nap. Have you tried putting her in a swing after she's out?

    Mine is the same way, I either have to hold her or nurse her laying down until she falls asleep and then v e r y s l o w l y get up.  Good luck!!

    How old is LO? At around 4 months, you could consider some gentle sleep training (eg baby whisperer pick up put down). It sounds to me like your LO has some sleep associations and may need some gentle help to learn to fall asleep in their own without "props". We are going through this too for the second time as I had to do this with DD1 as well who later became a champion sleeper. It will get better.
