Parenting after a Loss

Teething.. Can go kick..

Jackson has new teeth coming in again. He isn't a fussy teether but he wakes up every 2 hours. We had been doing so well. He was getting up at 1 for a bottle and then 5-6 for a bottle. He goes down around 7 so I was ok with this. It was a quick eat and back to sleep. Now its wake up and he just wants to be held. I rock him to sleep since I choose not to let him cry for over an hour straight. He will fight and not sleep. It takes less than 5 minutes to rock him and he is asleep. I think there are 3 coming in right now based off feeling his gums. I have been blessed this second trimester with energy but it's going away with lack of sleep and I have so much to do. Sorry I just had to let my frustrations out.

Re: Teething.. Can go kick..

  • I'm sorry teething is rough.  It just hurts to see your LO in pain.  I always feel guilty giving LO medicine, but when teething is really bad and none of the regular measures (cold washcloths to chew on etc) seem to work, some ibuprofen before bed seems to help both of us get a little more sleep.

  • I'm sorry, that sucks.  Poor Jackson, I'm sure he's really hard to resist in the middle of the night.  I hope those teeth come quick so you can get back to a regular routine.  ((hugs))

  • Boo teething! Ben has his first two coming in right at the same time right now. The first cut over the weekend, and based on his behavior today, that second one is about to cut, too. Big HUGS for you and Jackson! I hope they come in soon so you can get back to your normal routine!

  • Oh yea.. It's rough!! I'm in the Motrin/Tylenol bandwagon here.. When I know Owen is in pain from teething and other non medicated approaches don't work, I don't hesitate with giving it.. I actually talked to my ped about this too and she said that's perfectly fine,, she recommends using Tylenol first and if that isn't cutting it use Motrin as a last resort.. But I'd say 75% of the time we medicate for teething Tylenol works just fine... I'm sorry Momma! Just think, it's keeping you reminded of what newborn days are like ;-).

I think Jackson is immune to both Tylenol and Advil. When I say he gets no relief from either. It's been like this from day 1. But Hyland's Teething Tablets work. I felt 1 top one broke through yesterday, 4 more pending. I feel bad for him. I know that can't be fun.

Jackson reminds me all the time, at least I won't be going from a child who STTN to waking up every few hours. My body is already use to it.

Might be a silly question, but are you giving him the dosage based on age or weight? My ped tells us to go by weight, but the age says for like 2yrs + but porky is in that weight range (24lbs). I'm sorry they give him no relief! Poor kid =(. Teething sucks. Owens eye teeth are coming through,, he's got little blood blisters on the gum waiting for it to poke through,, ugh, lots of snuggles though!! This is another way baby wearing saves me lol.. I wrap Owen on my back when he's miserable from teething and at least I still have both hands free to tend to Aidan!! Ps I can't believe you're halfway done already!! Time is flying!!

I go off weight. I might have to look into proper dosage. Jackson is big. He's 30" and 20 lbs at 9 months.

  • Ok so responded more and apparently it didn't like it. I'm going to start with the ergo, I need to find one DH will wear. Then decide if we will need 2. Jackson runs hot all the time... His two front teeth are in, then the 2 sides are coming in and I can feel his "vampire" teeth. Lol I don't know proper term. And then bottom has 3 and the 4 is coming in.
