The Dreaded Bellybutton

It has happened.... Has it to you!? The Bellybutton is officially an outtie again for the next 23 or so weeks! Ugh, I hate it! I need to duct tape it down or something, it is showing through all my clothes.

Sadly my Bellybutton never looked the same after the first time around, I wonder what will happen this time, maybe it will stay out indefinitely... The horror. Anyone else, Bellybutton horror stories?

Re: The Dreaded Bellybutton

  • Mine is pretty flat. First pregnancy did a number on it. I could pop. It out just with a deep breath. :)

I've seen something (similar concept of a band aid) that sticks to your belly button and helps it to blend in after it pops out. No idea where I saw it, but the descriptions said that it was specifically for pregnant women who were self conscious about their belly button popping out. I'll see if I can find the link

  • I'm right there with you!! With DS my belly button didn't pop until I was much further along. I looked at a pic the other day where at 27 weeks my belly button had popped. I'm 15w today and it's half way popped. Only a matter of time before it pops completely. And as you said, my belly button never went back to the way it was before I was pregnant. It's much shallower now--almost level with the surface.

That's hilarious. Seems like it'd work better than a band aid since it's bigger. I tried a band aid with DS and it didn't do anything but leave a red band aid pint on my skin. Band aids seem to irritate my skin, latex free or not. I certainly wouldn't pay $10 for 5 of those guys.

  • Mine looks like it will pop out any day now and this is my first pregnancy.
It definitely pops in and out when I take a deep breath and the top part is becoming more flat.
So we will see when I will be an outie...I don't think I will like it too much either.

  • Yeah, mine never went back, it didn't stick out as bad as pregnancy, but I found I was more self conscious of wearing a bikini again from my Belly button, I've even considered having surgery after I'm don with all my kids, mainly cause it looks hideous, but I guess I can't complain, everyone leaves pregnancy with one thing, right? I didn't get stretch marks so I guess an ugly button was my one thing.
  • True story - with my first pregnancy I had a really bad vomiting day and my belly button popped while throwing up. Seriously. It was instant.
