Dexter finale (spoilers)

Did any one watch the Dexter finale last night? What did you think?

I kind of wish Dexter would have ended up in the ocean with Deb. I hate that there really wasn't any resolution. Now he is just going to be a lumberjack? Oh. OK.

I think they could have ended it a little better.

THANK YOU!! I thought the whole thing was bizarre!! I said it right away when her and Joey were in the ambulance...OMG, they're gonna kill off Deb! And my DH was like "no way...that's not gonna happen." Yea.

Here's my annoyances with it:

1. Really? You can just disconnect life support and carry her body onto your boat while there's a hurricane brewing and NO ONE notices either of these things? I get that it was chaos in the hospital, but come on. Nonsense.

2. HOW DO YOU SURVIVE A HURRICANE?! S T U P I D.

3. How did he end up in the wilderness? Are we to assume that was Canada? Or Montana or something? I'm not very familiar with the lumberjack business, but I know it's not thriving in Florida, so how did he get there? Steal someone's identity?

4. Are we to assume that he just called it a day and is finding happiness being one with nature and not going to go all vigilante and kill people anymore? How can he keep killing people without his cop connections?

5. How in the f can you just let your kid walk away with your lady friend who you tried to kill only a year ago. COME ON ALREADY.

All in all, I was sad. I wish they would have ended up together in Argentina and lived happily ever after. Because it would have been a nice wrap up, and it would have been unexpected. I'm very glad he didn't just drive into the hurricane and kill himself. I would have been really angry about it.

Yep. I totally agree with all your points. The part about carrying Deb out of the hospital....totally unreasonable.

I heard they are trying to work on some sort of spin off so that ending was left so open for that reason.... No idea of the details.

I heard there are no real details and it hasn't been written yet...AND they don't even know if "Dexter" will be on board, which is kind of a big detail, but they are going to pitch something to Showtime. Also, I don't know who the "they" are that I speak of!

I still haven't decided how I feel about it. I get why he faked his death to save Hannah and Harrison. I believe that he's living in a cabin in BFE and working as a lumberjack in order to punish himself. I just don't know if I like it. What I for sure don't like:

Stealing a patient (whom you technically just killed) from a hospital? Suuuuuuure

Surviving the hurricane in the middle of the ocean? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight

Okay. I caught up while I was stuck on the couch today. Ehh...It wasn't as bad as I expected. I didn't like it, but it wasn't terrible. It is hard to end series like that. With characters that are so dynamic, that you aren't supposed to like, but you do, they always seem to make them unhappy in the end - Weeds anyone? They did the same thing to Nancy.

@Cheenomae who would be in the spin-off? They couldn't center it around Dexter or it isn't a spin-off, just a story arc. I don't know how I feel about that.

I agree with all of your comments. Not every series can end as perfectly as Friday Night Lights (my favorite show EVER) did, but I definitely got more of a Weeds *meh* feel from this ending.

Also, what was it that Deb whispered to Quinn right before they wheeled her into surgery? It didn't sound like "I love you Quinn" to me but I couldn't make out the name she says....
