WTF coworkers!

Seriously do I need you to tell me I am not supposed to be drinking coffee. Forget the fact that it was decaf you douche.

And dear second coworker who I have never met, how dare you start telling me about the hostage situation in Kenya because you read that one of the people killed was eight months pregnant. Do you think this comforts me??

What the hell is wrong with people?!?

Re: WTF coworkers!

  • Omg they sound like my ILs! Lol. When we were down in the summer they kept telling us every story they knew where a baby died, wtf?! Because being PgAL wasn't enough to make me freaked out. Sorry your coworkers are being ass hats!

  • UGh so annoying. I have pretty much stopped reading the news and following politics so that I can stay happy and calm this pregnancy. Don't want to get worked up and stressed out.

This. I cry if I hear about anything bad and especially if it involves children. I am becoming a hermit.
  • I'm having the same day, this made me feel better

  • Hubby does not allow me to drink coffee cause the dr told him it could cause the baby to have a uneven heartbeat. SHHH I still sneak a cup every now and then esp when he buys coffee creamer :D

  • I'm still hearing "aren't you worried about how much labor will hurt, do you even know the amount of pain?"

    Seriously thanks for that

It's not just coworkers - it's pretty much everyone.  Everyone judges pregnant women.  Coworkers just feel like they have an "In" with you and can voice their opinions more freely.

At the grocery store this weekend, I asked a lady in the checkout line if I could grab a diet pepsi from the cooler (which she was standing in front of with her cart).  She smiled and said of course, and started backing up.  Then saw my baby bump.  She came to a full stop for a second, looked at the bump, looked up at me, looked up at the bump... and very obviously struggled with the decision to not say something.

::Evil Eye::  No one gets between me and my diet pepsi.

You are drinking Pepsi, I would totally judge you as well. :)

  • Technically, artificial anything isn't all that good, especially while pregnant. When I was pregnant with my 1st, my grandma informed me that in lab rat tests, they were given high amounts of aspartame (sp?) and got cancer from it. It's what most diet sodas use to sweeten it. My OB also recommends not using non-dairy creamer, but is less concerned about deli meats.

    It's all about moderation.

The lab rats were given ridiculous amounts of aspartame - way, way way more than the adjusted ratio of what a human would receive in a diet beverage.
I know that. It's just more of the BS my grandma said. After I "grew up" a year later, I learned to say "Ok thanks for that information" and go on my way and do my own thing. I did mention that the rats were given high amounts.

She said the same thing about sodium, too.

  • I still remember Christmas time when I was in school and pregnant with DD...I had a classmate giving me a speech about how the 'coffee' I was drinking would give DD a cleft pallet and other stuff...I was drinking hot cocoa. He assumed it was coffee because I smelled like coffee because we had a coffee shop attached to the library, where I worked all morning. He looked completely astonished when I told him it was just hot cocoa with whipped cream.

    And now I want a hot cocoa....yum.

My coworkers learned not to question me about food and drink, though. Especially since there were two of us in the library who were due in the same month. And there weren't many people there, so having two was rather out of proportion.

Also, only thing I see against diet drinks is (from what I've been told, haven't looked up since I can't stand the taste of them, so it doesn't affect me directly) that they have more caffeine than non-diet, and so are more likely to be addictive. Or something. It's been a while since I was told this, but that sounds more likely than a sweetener being harmful to me.

  • I get mildly annoyed with people at work telling me I shouldn't be drinking coffee.  Then I smile and take a sip before I walk away.

I think people should have to wear their medical credentials like a sign since apparently I work with so many doctors.  That way I know who to take seriously.

I never listened to my grandma when it came to that stuff.  However, she told me her secret to living to 93 was having 1 coke a day.  So coke did her body good.
