Switched OBs

I've been battling with whether or not to switch OBs since my 12-week appointment, and my 16-week appointment finally did it for me. Some of you might have seen my post about stomach sleeping, where my OB assured me that back sleeping is 100% fine throughout my entire pregnancy, but never stomach sleeping. She also rolled her eyes at what I thought was a legit question from a ftm (pain literally shooting up and down my stomach, wanted to be sure), and I was pressured into the quad screen by saying "oh and there is a screening we do if you want but it would have to be done today." and then afterward said "oh, btw don't be upset if we call you with abnormal results, this test has a high incidence of false positives." I don't know. I just felt like I left more nervous than I went in ... every single time. I just want someone who will take the time to get to know me at least a little bit, and I've switched OBs and feel much better! (Plus, my quad screen came back normal and that thrills me.)

    Sounds like you made the right choice. I'm totally side-eyeing your former OB right now.

    Glad you switched and are happy! I switched OBs after my first appointment, and I'm SO glad I did!

    So sorry you had to deal with that!!!! Glad the nightmare is over and here's to a much better OB experience! :)

    I did the same thing after my 10 week appt ... the doctor basically didn't care about me because I was low-risk (since when did low-risk mean NO risk and that you could just say, "see ya in 8 months"??). Love my new doctor.

    Thanks, ladies! I kept finding myself questioning her, and then defending it by things like oh I love the nurses, oh I'm sure she didn't mean it like that but after the last appointment (when I left the office in tears) I just couldn't shake it. And then I found this review online about my former OB (right before I switched):

    "Dr. Fulk is the rudest OB i have received "care" from. she is an impatient know-it-all with no regard to your thoughts or opinions. she pointed her finger at me and raised her voice as if she was scolding a child while i was laboring. there was no medical emergency or any reason for her to yell at me besides her own hasty carelessness. she "teased" me for not getting an epidural and made me feel small while giving birth to my little girl... i wouldnt recommend her OB practice to anyone!  If you ask or wish to not have a procedure done in your labor/birth experience, She will do it anyway just because she can and she is a power hungry dominator over women in their weakest moments."

     

    I understand taking everything with a grain of salt, but yikes. A lot of her feelings were mine exactly.

    I'm glad you did what you thought was right.

    My OB was not personable at all and literally had never asked me if I ever had questions at my appointments or anything. He would literally walk in, do the ultrasound and that was it. He is a super nice guy and has a great fun personality but I just didn't feel like I was getting what I deserved. So I switched to a midwife and a birthing center. :)

    Glad you switched!!! Our clinic rotates doctors and the 2nd one completely took me under her wing.  I'm so thankful to have her.  She sets up all my appointments with her and remembers our conversations.  She's the one who caught my shrinking cervix and got them to "fit me in" with like 2 days notice for a specialist.

    SO important to have a doctor you trust!!!
    1st FET 2/14/2013 Happy Valentines Day! - BFN
    2nd FET 6/14/2013     - BPF!!! -
    1st Beta:     1046!!!!! - 2nd Beta: 2754!!!!!
    First u/s 7/11/2013 - TWINS!!! 120 and 124 heartbeats <3
    Second u/s     7/29/2013 - wiggley babies! 178 and 184 heartbeats!
    Third u/s     9/9/2013 - 157 and 161 heartbeats ... a BOY and a GIRL!!!! Cervix on the "shorter side" (3-3.3) - going to check again in 2 weeks.
    Fourth u/s 9/23/2013 - Baby A = 157 Baby B = 150 heartbeat. Cervix now 2.3-2.6 ... being referred to a MFM
    MFM Appointment 9/26/2013 = Both babies healthy, cervix now measuring at 4 - Playing tricks on me ... will follow up in 2 weeks.
    Cervical check 10/7 with regular OB - 2.1cm  --- going BACK to the MFM armed with ultrasound pictures from my OB of my cervix. *sigh*
    MFM Appointment 10/8 - confirmed my cervix at 2.1cm - putting me on Progesterone for a week.
    MFM Appointment 10/17 - Cervix unchanged! Keeping me on Progesterone - followup 10/29
