My stupid dog just got sprayed by a skunk .....in the face. Of course our dog and house now smell terrible. (Even after 2 baths). DD party is sat and I JUST shampooed the couch and carpets LAST NiGHT. I do not have time for this crap.

I grew up in the country so I've tried all the vinegar / baking soda / tomato juice mixes in the past and the only thing that really helps is time.

Can my Monday start over?!?!?

Uggggh that sucks soooooo bad. I'm sorry!!!!

I agree, though, Monday can eff right off. I was up alllll night with DD who is teething and showing signs that she's getting a cold and now I have to go to work.

Wow, that sucks amazingly!

Agree with Mondays, DH just left for a two week business trip. O has recently taken to waking up at about 2 am and also at 6 am. The only way we've found to get him back down is a warm bottle which is now putting a damper on our bottle weaning progress.

Someone just told me this weekend to use powdered douche and make a paste out of that. We live out in the country and have skunks, which is how the conversation came up. She swore by it.

It really makes you wonder what kind of smells a douche will cover up, huh? I never even knew they made it in a powder.

Oh wow. That sucks. There's a nature's miracle product which is supposed to help wash out the smell. Never tried it myself, but I know my ILs had success with it.

Aidan was up for no apparent reason from midnight til 2. He seemed tired, but not overly bothered by anything.

I am now sitting at my surgeon's office, tired as fuck and have no idea how I'll make it through the day. I don't even drink coffee. Maybe I should start.

I only associate skunks with spring. I know that's stupid, but shouldn't they be starting to hibernate or something? Not spraying dogs! That sucks so bad. The only thing I've ever heard works is straight tomato juice, but I imagine not only is that a PITA, but also stinky. Bleh. Good luck!

When my dog got sprayed my Aunt swore by douche. She didn't specify powder though.

I did think it was hilarious when she was telling me this and told me that when her dog got sprayed she went to the store and bought tons of douche. I can't imagine what the cashier was thinking! I would so be one of those people that had to overexplain my purchase.

In other funny checkout stories when my dog got sprayed DH sent me to the store to get tomato juice. They didn't have any so I grabbed a small bottle of V8 and brought that home to him. He looked at me and was like what am I supposed to do with this? In the meantime he had talked to his brother who told him to get vinegar and baking soda. So I went back to the store to buy a lot of vinegar and bakind soda. When I was checking out (with gallons and boxes) the cashier asked me if I was making a volcano.

That really sucks. I'm really sorry and I hope you find a good remedy and the smell is gone by Saturday. I agree. EFF MONDAY. Last night the kids were a disaster and this morning they were crazy wild/disobedient. awesome start to the week for everyone!

This happened to us last fall. DD was only a couple of months old, and when I got up to feed her in the middle of the night, I let the dog out. She came running back in, gagging, and ran all over our upstairs. It was horrible.

We didn't have any tomato juice, so H poured tomato soup all over her, along with some Dawn, and then changed his clothes and came back to bed...which destroyed our sheets/comforter/etc.

Sometimes when Lucy gets wet, I still smell skunk.

So yeah, I understand how absolutely sucky it is.

Thanks! It ended up getting less stinky as the day went on. Thankful for open widows and a cool fall breeze! I hope it's completely gone by sat. My dog is still hunkering down like she's in trouble. She hates baths (silly water dog only likes water on her terms).

I've spent way too much time on the bump. I read this as exclusive formula feeding Monday and got confused.

I need a drink.

Oh, that sucks a lot. Our idiot dog got sprayed by a skunk in the face right before DS's 1st bday, so I feel your pain. We did find that two rounds of de-skunk bath at Petco made a big difference. GL airing out the house.
