DS has gone down to one nap, and it's usually a doozy, especially if he gets up early or has a poor night of sleep beforehand. Right now he's coming up on hour 4 of his afternoon nap. Too long? I hate waking him up but I will if I need to.
K has had 4 hour naps (of course never with me, but at my friend/DCP's house). I just let her sleep because I figured she needed it.
It usually pushed her bedtime back maaaaaaybe 30 minutes to an hour but we never had an issue with not sleeping well at night because of it.
We've never had this issue either. If he wakes up at 3 (it's 2:50 now), he'll be tired by 7.
I wouldn't wake her up unless she was close to 2 or 3 hours until her normal bedtime. But if he usually takes longer naps and it isn't affecting his nighttime sleep, I'd just let him sleep - sounds heavenly!
For me it is not the length of the nap but the time of the day that I worry about more. I let LO sleep as long as she wants but never past 5 pm. According to Sleepeasy they should not nap past 4-5 pm because if they do then they will be wound up and to awake for bed time. LO gets her nap @ 1 and I let her sleep as long as she wants.
