Do you use a house cleaning "chain"?

If so, what is the name and would you recommend them? I don't know any small business type of cleaning services in my area. DH and I are thinking about having someone come in. At this point, we're willing to figure out how to put the money out to have some sanity.

(If anyone uses a more local person in the philadelphia, pa area please pass on their info)

Check out Angie's List, you can find great referrals. There's a small annual fee (I want to say ~$30?), but most of the companies have coupons - We go $40 off a plummer, which more than paid for our membership.

I'll be watching this thread. Generally speaking, I've heard that mom & pop type cleaning businesses are better than chains. However, I have not had good experience with them. We currently don't have anyone and that is getting old!

We don't, so I can't answer your question directly. But I wanted to say that the way we found ours was from word of mouth from our neighbors. She takes care of several people's homes that live in our neighborhood and neighborhoods in our immediate area. Once we decided we needed one I just started asking around to people I knew in our area and at our church.

Yea I found mine through my next door neighbor also. Ask around your neighbors, coworkers, Facebook friends.

I only used a chain once and was not happy..I don't like the idea that it is new ppl in and out of your house all the time, you may never know what the quality will be like, you have no relationship to develop re what things you prefer or to do special projects sometimes, etc....plus I suspect some of them pay their staff terribly bc of the overhead but I might be generalizing...ditto the others, ask around...the only thing I would make sure to verify is that they're insured and bonded.
