Babies: 3 - 6 Months

3 month old sleep

Haven't posted since the beginning of my pregnancy, but wanted to compare notes on 3 month old sleep.  Specifically, during the day, how long are the chunks of time your 3 month old stays awake?  My ds is usually ready to go back to sleep after 1.5-2 hours of being awake, but the last couple nights he's wanted to extend the last chunk of time before bedtime.  He got fussy after close to 2 hours so I swaddled and nursed him, expecting him to be out, but instead he perked back up and wanted to play for another 30-45 minutes.  Normal?  I just want to make sure I'm continuing to catch him at optimal sleep times, and he's not getting into "second wind" territory.

Re: 3 month old sleep

  • 2 hours of awake time is average.

Sometimes they wake up & don't know how to put themselves back to sleep

on a good day, DS naps every 2 hrs and he's 5 months

    First nap is 30 mins
    Second nap is 45 mins
    Third nap is 3 hours

This is exactly like mine.. But lately even though I know she is tired she is getting harder and harder to put down for naps.. I'm hoping maybe this is a sign that she will soon be consolidating into fewer, longer naps.
