Did I overreact?

One of the nurses at our pedi's office has rubbed me the wrong way from the start. She has made comments about DD being underweight (she isn't), made a mistake at her 2 mo appt involving not accurately recording which vaccines were given, and today at DDs 6 mo appt gave her a puncture wound with one of the shots that caused 15 min of bleeding and screaming. Then when we pushed the call button for a new bandaid (the first one was soaked through), she said, "oh, is this where all that screaming is coming from?" When the pedi came back in to check on us, H told him we no longer wanted to see that nurse, and he said he would take care of it, didn't seem phased. Did we overreact? Are all of these things normal? Or would you have done the same?

  • I would probably have done the same. Not for an isolated incident, but it sounds like you've had a lot of opportunities to see her in action.

Same here. I don't think you overreacted.

  • I try to follow my gut with stuff like this. It is hard to ask questions or ask for help when someone rubs you the wrong way. That said, we almost always have a different nurse every time we go to the pedi.
  • I hate most nurses it seems...they all seem to rub me the wrong way, so I would have probably just ignored it. But it it can be worked out that you don't have to see her, good for you.
  • IMO, you didn't overreact as this is an ongoing issue...  Now, the next time you go to the clinic stick to your guns about it!!!!

Yeah, me too, that's why I wasn't sure if I was overreacting. I remember being irrationally annoyed by everyone in the hospital when DD was born, with the exception of my midwife and one nurse.

  • Nope.  If someone at a Dr's office rubs me the wrong way even 1 time, I ask to not be seen by them again.  You get one chance with me.

  • Team Not Overreacting. I would be livid about the wound today and a vaccination mistake could have been rull rull bad.

  • Team you're normal. The pedis and their staff are so terrible where we moved that I drive almost 300 miles to do well checks at our old one. ( and visit family at the same time)
  • I've "fired" a nurse at our ped office before also.  I say it wasn't overreacting.
