I know most of you have jumped ship to facebook, but kind of like having a baby/kid-specific place to share stuff so I don't overshare on facebook.
I've got a head full of thoughts related to kids today, so I thought I'd try something my other BMB does. feel free to post your own, if anybody is still here!
Ten thing Monday:
- Ever
since a close encounter with an overflowing toilet last night, Sebastian
likes to pretend he’s a guy named Bob the plumber.
- Going
along with what a 2.75 year old is pretending makes things easier (and
more fun) for everyone. Hi Bob! Are you ready to go to school Bob the
plumber?
- The
capacity of a 2.75 year old to absorb new ideas is really astounding.
Today, Sebastian mentioned someone or something being Chinese. I asked
whether he was Chinese, and he said “I’m from the United States.”
- Sebastian
still likes to play with the spices in the cupboard. Since they’re
alphabetized and he can reach the shelves at the bottom, he is much more
familiar with turmeric, tarragon, sage, and sesame seeds than basil or bay
leaves.
- Alden
has a reputation as a good sleeper at daycare.
- I’m
not sure whether this is good or bad – good because his caregivers might
appreciate it? Or bad because it means he’s not getting enough attention
and because he might reverse cycle with breastfeeding at night.
- Sebastian
likes to spin around in circles a lot.
- God is
a difficult concept to explain to a little kid. It’s easiest to do the
creator God, but harder to explain how God is everywhere and appears to
all people.
- I don’t
think that the abstract passage from John – I am the light – was probably
the best place for Sunday school to start.
- I hope
I can go on a date with my husband soon, and am jealous of people who have
family close by to babysit. With two kids in daycare, I feel guilty to spend the money and time away. I love our kids but miss alone time with him.
Re: 10 Thing Monday
I joined the Facebook page - but it's just too many posts and too much to keep track of right now. And hard to match up real names and TB screen names.
I will still be checking and posting here as much as I can. Here are my random 10 kid things:
1) My kids are so much better well behaved when they are by themselves. Sibling rivalry/spats are so crazy at this age already (almost 3 and 14 months).
2) Jonny is a puzzle fiend right now - it's amazing how fast he can do an 18 or 24 piece puzzle.
3) Benny just tries so hard to keep up and copy his older brother. It's going to be really interesting in 5 years when they are both in school and only 1 grade apart.
4) Benny is in the in-between phase of 2 naps to 1 nap a day. I remember that transition being rough with Jonny, so the next few weeks will be interesting.
5) Now that I have 2 boys I feel like I wouldn't know what to do with a baby girl - strange? flameful?
6) Both the boys and myself have all had colds this past week. It's making us all miserable and even though I'm looking forward to fall/winter holidays, I'm not looking forward to cold/flu season
7) I can't for the boys to share a room in another year or two. I want the current nursery back as an office/guest room!
8) I'm really looking forward to holidays/Christmas this year since I feel like Jonny will really "get it" more this year than even last year.
....and that's all I can think of for now!
I haven't jumped ship. I still enjoy checking out TB while I'm at work - it makes for a nice 'break'.
1. I really wish S would be more interested in using the potty
2. I am super frustrated with TTC#2 right now..which doesn't help anything.
3. I hate to say it but DD is a favorite at her daycare. It secretly makes me happier than it should.
4. I love that S can count to twenty, say the ABC's about 90% correctly, and loves to sing Twinkle Little Star
5. I need to buy a lower clothing rack for her closet because she likes to help hang up her coats/sweaters/shirts.
6. She has a new addiction to Bubble Guppies and they are not on Netflix play now
7. She has also been very interested in watching movies. She is constantly going to our DVD rack and saying "Pick one?"
8. I can't wait for her to see her new big girl bedroom for her birthday. We have almost everything we need already.
9. Struggling TTC #2 makes me regret going back to work FT. I feel like S may be my only LO and I'm missing out on time with her.
10. We are making progress on getting our house ready to sell. So exciting!
DD 12.2010
2- ds is driving me crazy! He is so clingy and wild! I think it's related to dd being otw
3- I've been feeling a lot of pressure today. I'll be 37 weeks pregnant Wednesday so maybe there's some progress going on
4- ds loves to sing and play drums. He's obsessed with drums
5- he is so obsessed with drums that it has to be stated twice
6- I'm amazed at how much this kid learns and how smart he is
7- it's only 6 and I'm ready for bedtime
8- his hair grows unbelievably fast. I feel like every time he gets a hair cut, it's time for another one
9- we had a problem with ds getting up at night and turning his light on to play. Dh turned his bed around so he's essentially in a crib again
10- he's obsessed with Pete the cat right now. He asks me everyday if Pete cried lol
I haven't abandoned ship either!
And I don't have a list, but kenandkendra, you alphabetize your spices?! Wow, so much more organized then me!
@babycakes - so sweet how polite and thoughtful Griff is!
@tmntgirl - I totally remember that 2 nap to 1 nap transition and stressing out about it. Hope it works itself out.
@mrskelly & stephy - Is anyone ever totally at peace about SAHM/WM/PT/FT? I don't know that person if she exists! I know one day I feel one way, and the next totally different. It's hard to balance and not feel some sort of guilt.
@jbm - my guy's hair grows like a weed, too! I feel like we're constantly getting it cut only to have him look like a street urchin days later. And boy 37 weeks with an excitable & ornery toddler is a handful! I remember feeling exhausted and sick of S at that age. Get some rest if you can
@carlabrett - if you could see my house, you'd know that the alphabetized spices are a huge exception to the rule!
1- like other pp I'm amazed at what A remembers and learns. We were watching tv and he said "p says puh" it snapped me out of the bump and I was like what?!?!! When did you learn letter sounds? He knows quite a few, not by anything we or the sitter did. Dh thinks its from the leapfrog fridge magnet thing.
2- I swear the older A gets the clumsier he gets. In one morning he fell walking up the stairs, he walked into a wall, and slipped on a placemat.
3- my 2nd-J is a mommas boy and I'm loving all the momma snuggles right now. A was and is a daddy's boy although with 2 kiddos and me SAH more nowadays he has become a bit more snuggly with me.
4- I think there may come a day I need to stay away from TB if for no other reason than to not get baby fever from all the BFPs and new baby squishies.
5- we are working on manners with A. He asks to be excused after he finishes his meal and will put his bowl and plate in the sink. He's growing up so fast!!
I guess I only have 5 things too
