Babies: 9 - 12 Months

11 month old sleeping more than usual

Hey everyone! I'm new here because I was looking for things about my son sleeping more than usual. He has been sleeping for longer periods of time, and instead of one nap a day, he has been taking 2-3 naps. The other day he slept from 9pm-11:30am the next day. That's 14.5 hours. He'll be a year old on October 6th, and he does have two teeth about to poke through. Not sure if maybe it's a growth spurt...or should I be concerned?

Re: 11 month old sleeping more than usual

  • My 11 month old has been doing the same thing! Long naps and then going to bed early and waking up late. Probably a growth spurt. I swear some days she wakes up and looks like she grew in her sleep!

  • I hope my DD goes through this!!! lol
  • Thank you for your reply! I hope it is just a growth spurt. I worry about him too much, maybe. He's my first child, and really the only baby I've ever been around. He is so hard to get to sleep, it's weird for me to see him just fall asleep on his own so often.
  • My 11 mo old did the same thing.  3 hour naps when we were used to 40 minute naps.  I freaked out a little - but just hoped it was a growth spurt.  He's on the smaller side.  He's perfectly fine!

Enjoy the time and check some things off the to-do list!

  • Another 30-40 minute napper here who suddenly took an almost two and a half hour nap today.  She turns 11 months tomorrow.  Hoping for a growth spurt, because she's only gained a pound in the last three months.
  • Ugh I would loooooove this right about now.  My LO is fighting naps like the plague...
