Baby Boy M - similar feel to Mason

Hi All!

Coming over here from march 2014, and we're having a boy!

We LOVE the name Mason but don't love that every boy is being named that these days. We want to call our son MJ so definitely want an M first name. Another name I like is Micah but we want to give this one a biblical middle name, so are saving micah for the future.

I don't want something too out there, but would love some alternatives with a similar feel. Matt(hew), Max(well), and Maddox (all spellings), and Madden are out because of our last name.

Names on the list, but still unsure of:

-Merritt

-Macon

-Mac or Mack

-Murphy - Maybe?

-Morris - Maybe?

I like the sound of last names I guess!

I like Mitchell but DH doesn't love it.

Miles/Milo were on our last. I know this board has no love for Maverick, but it's a GP name. And I love Max and Maddox.

I really love the name Martin which is underused these days. It isn't Biblical, but there are a couple saints with the name: St. Martin de Porres and St. Martin of Tours. They both have feast days in November.

And I think Marty is a sweet NN for a little boy, very Back to the Future.

If our LO was a boy he would have been Maddox. I also liked Mason but it was way too popular. I also really like Malachi and Miles.

Yeah! Like Macon, GA. DH nixed that though. We are having a really hard time agreeing on an M name, so we are thinking maybe we will venture out. The reason we want M is because we love the nickname MJ. But the only names we can really agree on are Mason (his top choice - I love, but think it's too trendy), Micah, and Manning. He nixed Mithcell, Merrick, Mack, etc. Booo.

I think I will post a new thread when we have a few more contenders, but sadly were still leaning toward MJ even though we can't agree on an M name! We joked we would just name him Emjay.

You joke about Emjay, but that is apparently becoming a popular way to do nicknames. I know several babies (ours included) whose initials are EMJ who go by the nickname Emjay. So if you liked any E first names, you could still use Mason as a middle or any other M names. Just throwing out the idea.
