Baby Names

8 letter baby girl names with a one syllable middle name.

I am expecting my 4th baby and I currently have 3 girls who have 8 letter names with double letters. They also have one syllable middle names. They are Scarlett Rose, Maddison Grace and Isabelle May. We didn't plan this, it just so happened to be, but now if we were to have a girl it would be nice to follow the pattern. The middle names have been taken from grandmothers on each side taking turns and this time it's my turn again, however there aren't any one syllable names which I can pass on. I would love to pass on something from my side so I was thinking of modifying the spelling of my grandma's name Alicia to Aleesha, which has only 7 letters, so now I'm considering spelling it as Aleeysia (but who wants to have a name they have to spell to everyone?) I like the name Eve as a middle name but not a necessity. Has anyone got any suggestions as my husband is adamant that he'd like to follow the pattern? If we were to have a boy we won't be so particular so at the moment we are only concerned about girls names.

Don't misspell your grandmother's name. You are absolutely spot-on with the question, "Who wants to have a name they have to spell out to everyone?" The answer is no one. The original spelling of the name looks much nicer; I wouldn't modify it to have 8 letters or repeating letters. Use it as is or ditch it.

I honestly think this pattern is so subtle that you shouldn't feel obligated to follow it. I would have never noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

As far as suggestions that meet your criteria...DD2 is Tallulah.

    There's also:

    Vivienne

    Marianne

    Collette

    Ellison

    Arabella

    Juliette

...I got nothing. This is a hard pattern to follow. If you didn't mean to do it with the first three, I wouldn't make a point to do it with #3. Just my two cents.

I don't think anyone will notice that you are not following your unintentional pattern. I would just pick a name you love.

Re: 8 letter baby girl names with a one syllable middle name.

  • I'm going to answer as if this were a real post and not MUD.

No, do not change the name of an existing name like Alicia to make it into an 8 letter name.  That's ridiculous.  Aleeysia is a TERRIBLE NAME.

There are plenty of real 8 letter names if you'd like to continue that pattern:  Jennifer, Caroline, Kristina, and Coraline come to mind.  There are others.  Either use a real name with a legitimate spelling, or forget the 8 letter thing.

Eve is fine for a middle name for almost any first name.

  • I agree that the name shouldn't be butchered and yes if it wasn't intentional then why follow it? I'd rather Alicia as a middle name if anything, as that's where all if our passed on names have been placed. My dad would be honored to have his mum's name passed on. I like the name Felicity but felicity Alicia is a mouthful, and I don't like the thought of the name being shortened to Flea or flick.

Thethesans, that's been the best response so far however still haven't got any favorites as we've used them all with the first three girls. Hoping a baby in blue will solve the problem....names for boys, Lucas James or Dylan Luis (spelt Luis after my dad's name)

  • Soap1 what do u mean MUD? Our girls have such beautiful names, we just want another one as nice as the first 3. It's a legitimate question.
  • Jnnfrrose6 I know my husband doesn't think it would be fair to used my gmas name as a FN as no one else did.

I just realized that we couldn't use Leigh or lee as our last name end in 'ley' sounding as lee... I like Mikayla /Mikaylah Eve
  • I understand you want a name to fit, I wouldn't be so strict like 8 letters & double letter. But I understand wanting a long beautiful name to go with that sibset.
Here's a few I like, loosely following your pattern:

    Lillian or Lilliana
    Madeline
    Gracelyn
    Evelyn
    Maryanne
    Arabella
    Ariella
    Raelynn

  • Or Michaela, which is a far more timeless spelling.

Also, MaryBeth, Adrianna, Angelica, Beatrice, Brooklyn, Clarissa, Gabriela, Georgina, Rosemary, Samantha, Veronica, VIctoria

  • If you really want them to have a pattern, I would choose EITHER double letters OR the 8 letters. That will be easier.

Don't misspell a name to fit the trend. Actually, don't misspell a name at all.

    Double letter names:
    Susanna
    Annabel
    Corinna
    Julianna
    Arabella

    8 Letter names:
    Felicity
    Angelica
    Beatrice
    Florence
    Cordelia
    Francine
    Lilliana
    Madeline
    Rhiannon
    Samantha
    Veronica

    This!
  • Cordelia or Tallulah are great. Don't butcher a lovely name. There are so many options out there

  • I don't think it counts as a theme/pattern if you only just noticed it.  Don't butcher your grandma's name.
