I have a pizza face.

edited September 2013 in October 2013 Moms
My face has not been this oily or have this many pimples since I was a teenager. It's driving me NUTS!!! The same thing happened the week before I delivered DD1, too, and I hate the way my face looks in all the pictures from the hospital. I'm determined to have a much clearer face for pictures this time around.

What face wash did you use/are you using to control your acne?

Re: I have a pizza face.

  • I was just thinking about posting the exact thing!!
My chin is going wild, and I always have great skin. My face wash usually works wonders. No idea how to control this!

  • My face has been pretty clear during pregnancy, however I just got a giant zit right in the middle of my nose.  I am going to look like Rudolph in my hospital pictures.  When I have had hormonal breakouts, I find that less is better for me.  I usually just clean with warm water and a really mild astringent

  • I love cerave, I use the one that is in the green bottle foaming cleanser but not the hydrating one because my skin tends to be a bit more oily.

  • I use Clinique Acne Solutions. It has worked great to keep the extra oil under control. I love it.

  • Mine was terrible the whole first tri! I've been using Neutrogena Natural twice a day when I wash my face and the scrub in the shower. I have still had some breakouts, but not nearly as bad as it was.

  • My face has gone a little crazy lately as well.  =/  To top it off I have a cold so my nose is completely red from blowing it all day/night.

  • I was freaking out about that too! My nose just broke out a few days ago. I used some tea tree oil face cleanser and a wash cloth and it looks a lot better. It better stay nice looking!!

  • Mine has reverted to my 15 year old face as well.  I started using the Yes to Cucumbers cleansing cloths a few times a day and it is really helping.
  • I have this spot on my forehead that is super dry yet oily at the same time. But on my chin is red and flaky and dry. I've been using lotion but it doesn't help. I have to use stuff for sensitive skin.
  • I'm so glad it's not just me!  In the past few days I'm broken out all of a sudden...and I had had such clear skin this whole time!

  • Ladies fight oil with oil. I have been using the oil cleansing method and have not had any breakouts since I started. It also balances out your pH levels and keeps oily spots at bay as well as super dry spots.
You can use any oil you wish, almond, olive or whatever you have on hand really. And use coconut oil as your lotion when done. Coconut oil has saved my eczema dragon skin that rears it's ugly head this time of year.

Only thing that ever worked for me besides proactive was to use witchhazel and calamine twice a day.  Calydryl clear if you don't want pink chalky looking stuff on your face.  My grandmother always swore by it and I finally spent the three dollars it cost and never looked back.

I had the pizza face with DD1 as well, but I was so much younger.  I've had great skin so far this pregnancy, but I worry about those last couple weeks like you said.  I expect to wake up looking like a 14 year old any day now.

  • It's due to the surge of hormones before delivery, especially if it's on your chin. No face wash is going to help.

  • I've been nervous about this, because I already have rosacea, but so far so good... We'll see though. I KNOW I am going to have a break-out after labor. I break out anytime I cry a lot (like sobbing-cry)- like whenever the blood rushes to my face & I get all red. Pretty sure pushing in labor will have the same effect...

Not my chin (hair line because even my hair has gotten out of control greasy, nose and cheek), but that's interesting!

Thanks for all the tips ladies :)

Cerave. Recommended by my derm and it works great.

I love my Clarisonic! My face doesn't feel truly clean unless I use it.
