October 2013 Moms

What's on your to-do list?

I'm getting antsy, and I'm a lists person, so maybe you could share what's left (or accomplished) on your before-baby to-do list?  Maybe it will give me/others ideas to keep busy, provide a reminder, etc.

Here's what I've got:

-Submit short-term disability and work leave paperwork
-Copy birth plan and submit with hospital pre-reg paperwork
-Paint and assemble furniture (yeah, I know, but we are about to move)
-Possibly buy/make gift for DH
-Possibly make/bake bags for nurses
-Choose and address birth announcements
-Plan Thanksgiving road trip
-Do a little planning for our informal shower dinner 10/5
-Install car seat in DH's car
-Mani-pedi

How about you?

Re: What's on your to-do list?

  • Damn! Ambitious! I'm just jealous as I'm on bed rest so all those to-dos are just dreams... However, I do plan to sit and organize the baby's dresser drawers and make some dividers. Exciting, I know.

    1. make freezer meals
    2. finish nursery (not much to do except hang things)
    3. wash clothes, etc
    4. install carseat (waiting till the very end for this)
    5. attempt to figure out what to wear for newborn pics
    6. finsih thank you notes from sprinkle (need to do ASAP)

ETA--I already did this but it was a big one for me...I had to finalize all Halloween plans. c/s is scheduled for Oct 22 so I already got little gifts for DD's class and got her costume all ready. I'm in total nesting mode and was kinda freaking out about Halloween. I don't want DD to not have a good one just bc of my c/s
  • I still need to turn in my maternity leave doctors note and preregister at the hospital. After that, I'm ready to go. I don't start my leave until the 19th, but having everything ready at home is cutting my stress levels a lot.

  • -Get my leave paperwork filled out AGAIN, since the nurse that filled it out marked everything the opposite of what she should have.
-Detail my truck.  For some reason I feel like I've got to do this before I install the car seat.  That's happening this week.
-Probably should follow PP's lead with the prep for dd's Halloween and go ahead and get her a costume and treats for her class so I don't have to worry about that if I have a brand new baby.
-Run all my extra pump supplies through the dishwasher, just in case some dust or something has gotten on them.
-Still need an ottoman of some sort for the nursery.  I've found some I like for pretty reasonable, but just haven't actually gotten one yet.  Probably do that this coming weekend.  Also still need a lamp.  Shit, I just remembered that.
-Return a diaper bag that I received that is super cute, but that I will never use, and exchange it for some Bamboo sleep sacks.  I got one for my shower and it is the softest, best gift I received, and looks very boyish on top of that.  :)

I'm a bystander to most of this list until released from modified bed rest:
    1. Get car seat checked (class on this second week of October, hope we make it!)
    2. Finish last minute organization of nursery.
    3. Double check go bag.
    4. Write thank you's if I get to go to shower next week...if not, write them after baby comes.
    5. Finish freezer meals.
    6. Double check that STD paperwork all went through ok, since I have no trust.
    7. I'd like to sort through my books stored in the garage and pick out ones for the baby...also ones at school, currently. This, alas, is a pipe dream :(.
    8. Drink lots of water and avoid L&D until 40 weeks!

ETA: good thing I called about STD since, no things aren't worked out, apparently they are missing an answer from my school district and my school district insists they've never received the fax from STD. HR says they will deal with them, so now begins the waiting, trying not to panic.

Halloween was a big one for me. That and my daughters third bday in early november. I did almost everything already for both b/c i really dont want them to miss out. Mommy guilt plus nesting has made me very productive!!
