You don't really ever have to go up to 2. If you are breastfeeding at all, it's recommended you stick with the slow flow nipple. If you are formula feeding and LO seems frustrated with the slow flow, is collapsing the nipple or is taking forever to eat then move up. DD1 was formula fed and we switched to medium flow around 8 months because of the above mentioned things.
I switched too when it was taking him forever to finish a bottle, and he would stop a few times seeming uninterested (which was odd behavior for him). Now he's back to guzzling it in minutes
I know that it says NEVER do that and it guilted me out of it, but was anyone else tempted to just try to make the slow flow holes larger? I just didn't feel like running to BRU. I am not a rule breaker though and guilted myself out of it. The medium flow didn't work for my stubborn girl either anyway.

Re: Nipple size
Me either!
Me either!
Add me.
Out of 5.
Also, we moved up to medium flow nipples when Lex was taking almost an hour to finish a bottle. It now takes her about 3 minutes. I'm so proud.
