Potty Training

When to throw in the towel?

New to this board, just found it.

We have been at this for about a month. I have never had this kind of trouble with my older kids.

Alexis started potty training at the beginning of August. She can go a whole day with no accidents, and we can even go out and she will tell me she needs to pee. She stays dry at night and naps. But most days she just pees everywhere. I don't know if I'm more stressed from this pregnancy and that is why I want to throw in the towel, or she  is really not ready yet.

Everything I read says keep trying but I keep second guessing things.

Any thoughts, words of encouragement would be helpful.

  • Sounds like she isn't really interested. If you can, I would take a couple months off. I can't see your ticker though, so I can't tell how old she is or how far along you are...

  • Thank you! She's 2y 3m, I'm almost 16 weeks.

  • I would throw in the towel, but not out of frustration. When she is ready, potty training will literally click. My son is almost three and a half. A couple weeks ago, he said he wanted big boy underwear on and we haven't looked back. Before then, he'd go once in a while, but nothing super consistent. If you push it too soon, it'll only take longer. Good luck!

  • Thank you both! My gut was saying give up but as crazy as my hormones are I wasn't sure if I trusted it.
