So I have a question for crafty people...

My brother is a Jacksonville Jaguars fan. I wanted to make everyone fleece blankets for Christmas with their teams.
I can get Steelers and Vikings and even USC fabric for his wife who doesn't watch NFL ball, but it looks like I'm going to have to search the interwebs hard to find Jax fleece. I can find cotton, but not fleece.
So you crafty ladies (or possibly gents, no discrimination here) how often do you buy fabric online? Do you get them all okay? I'm so scared to order something new online that I'm not used to.
I REALLY don't want to have to go to his basketball team because then the pattern wouldn't be all football teams (he's a Jayhawks fan, for @MrsSkull1107) but I will if I absolutely have to.
But if anyone can help me find it I think it's usually you guys.
ETA: I already checked Joann and Hobby Lobby because those are near to me and I could have gone in person.

  • I was just thinking it probably didn't exist. :( Meh.
WTF man. I could see if they have the logo appliques somewhere I suppose.
I figured if anyone could find it it would be you.
Is there any way to like... attach cotton to a solid fleece and then make the fleece blanket with that and another solid fleece color?

  • @morgann2010 - I saw that! I'm glad to know Hancock is a legit store, I live up north and we don't have any of them around here. They do make licensed cotton, at least. I just need cmeon's wisdom on whether I can somehow attach that to fleece :P
Thanks for helping me look :) I must accept they do not make Jax fleece I guess.

  • Hahaha I don't know how I missed that jax fleece doesn't exist when I had this idea way back in the summer. I probably saw USC Vikings and Steelers and just forgot to look for the last one.
I would also make tons of marvel fleece blankets if I had unlimited money, I feel your pain.

  • Damn. I sent you an awkward PM hoping I could just cut and tie with the other cutting and tying. It's supposed to be one of those easy new sew fleece blankets.
Grrrr. He might get Jayhawks after all.

  • There's a site where you can make it. Just a thought.

  • Ooooooh Nana - how ridiculously expensive is it though? And what site?

  • Spoonflower.com I didn't see a fleece, but they have a "performance knit" which might just be a fleece. It's pretty pricey though.

  • if you can do a basic straight stich, you can sew the cotton to a piece of fleece (pattern sides facing one-another 3/4 of the way around) & then turn it right side out.

  • That seems reallly promising @LittleFish1 except what does three quarters mean?
I am literally the stupidest sew-er ever.

  • It means that you sew 3 sides of the square with wrong sides facing each other, turn right side out, press the seam in, and sew all the way around. I make blankets like this all the time using minkie though.

  • Yeah. Cmeon is sending me fleece blanket links. I was gonna do three yards so I guess I could always just figure out where to cut somehow.
I promise I'm actually smart, sewing just freaks me out.

  • Ha we literally posted in the same minute :P I will figure out how to do this. I mean, 50 inches is.... like a yard and 14 inches right? Like 4 ft 2 inches?
So if I bought 2 that would be 100 inches which is almost 3 yards. So if I bought 3 yards of black (or actually probably navy blue based on this blanket) fleece for the other side... I could cut it to the length of the two blankets and tie it up like everyone else's... except how do I attach the two blankets? Do I still have to sew them?

The Jags suck so they don't deserve fabric with their logo. I live in Jacksonville and I probably couldn't even find it here.

That wasn't very helpful. If you're really desperate I can check Joann's for you and ship it to you. Probably wouldn't be too expensive.

I remember. Are you guys close to jax? Have you checked in store?

  • Nope. I'm in NY. Probably part of the reason I'm having so much trouble finding it. *grumble*
I think I'll probably just buy two of the fleece blankets and another fleece in the right color and call it a day.
