Maternity Photos at 39 weeks??

So one of my fam members knows a photographer that offered early on in this pregnancy to do a free photo shoot for me as she wanted to get some maternity practice. I agreed, and heard nothing of it again until today. Today! So she wants me to drive out into the country next Saturday at 39 weeks to do a photo shoot. I feel like I want to kill her for waiting so long. Would you agree to doing a photo shoot this late in the game or has that boat already set sail?

  • I'd do it! It may not end up being a long session, but you might get some great shots!

  • I just did mine yesterday and they turned out fab. My ticker says 37 weeks but I'm 38. Do you still feel good? I have the normal pains, but felt good enough to goof off w/ my husband and have really pretty, natural looking photos taken. We love them!

  • lol @Amjoy25 ;)

I am currently so pissed off at her for waiting so long, and was it last week or the week before that my FI said I looked like I was carrying a rhinoceros head  - since then and the fact that no clothes fit anymore, I feel like I have gone way waaay past the cute pregnancy stage.
But you are right, this is kind of a one time deal,  so I may as well suck it up. Perhaps I'll get over my anger in the week to come.

  • Sucks that they waited until the last minute but as long as you are feeling up to it I would totally do it!

And if not, I think it will be really funny if in all of your pictures you are giving the photographer the eat shit look. :) I hope you decide to share them!

  • Since it's free, I say go for it!  If they suck no harm done, but you might end up with some really cute ones.  I didn't get maternity photos taken, but I had DH take some pics of me at 37 weeks despite feeling gross and like nothing fit.  Some of them actually turned out pretty cute, and then I had my baby 4 days later.  Now, I actually have some cute pics of me really pregnant that I can put in the baby book.  I almost didn't have him take those because I just assumed they would turn out bad.  You never know, you may be pleasantly surprised!

  • I did mine at 40w last time, and loved them. I was huge, but the pictures turned out really well. I wasn't miserable or anything though like I have been this whole time.

  • If I was paying, I wouldn't at this point (I'm 38 weeks) because I feel awful and wouldn't be up to it, and it would be a waste of money.  But, you aren't paying so I'd say go for it.  You won't be losing out on money if you hate the shots and you could end up with some really good ones!

  • Wow nice to hear that there are others that have had photos this late in the game and are happy with them.

  • The photographer I'm hiring for newborn pics just asked if I wanted to schedule maternity shots too. No way! Free, I'd think about it. I didn't schedule them sooner because I really wasn't showing much until the last two weeks, and now I'm cranky and miserable most of the time. And I'm only 36/3 now. I don't think I could handle it at 39 weeks, especially if there's a drive involved first.
  • You can't go wrong with free!

  • We did ours yesterday - 37w2d. I feel huge but there were at least 20 shots that I love.

    Its free, right? Do it!

  • We just did ours, too.  What's the harm?  I won't regret getting them (even if I dislike them) but I might regret NOT getting them.  That was my thinking.  I haven't seen them yet... so finger's crossed!  I felt HUGE but tried to fake some confidence.
