ill feeling before labor... Is it true?

Hi Ladies! I am currently 37w3d pregnant with my first, and for the past week or so I've been experiencing flu like symptoms. At first I thought I was getting sick, but how I felt never actually got progressively worse. I've been feeling kind of queasy at night, and then perfectly fine when I wake up the next morning. Today, I hard a warm sensation, as if I was getting a fever, but when I checked my temperature, it was normal. I even checked my BP, thinking that maybe it was high, and that too, was normal. In addition, I felt weak. I read online that flu-like symptoms are signs that labor will begin very soon. My question is, is this true, or just an old wives tale? I just feel "off". I'm starting to think maybe it's my nutrition, and that I need to consume more fruits and veggies.

  • There is no way for us to tell if its the real deal for you specifically but I've heard that some women felt sick before labor.. Some women felt the best they'd had in awhile right before. You just never know. There has been a flu bug going around.

  • Yeah... I was just curious. Knowing my luck, I'll go past my due date. I'm probably just getting sick.
  • My water broke and I had my baby on Monday at 37 weeks, 4 days.  I did not have flu symptoms, but I did feel different on Sunday and commented about it to DH a few times.  The baby was really active and I felt a LOT more pressure than I had been feeling and was having a lot of BH.  These are all normal symptoms at this time anyway, but I'm just saying I noticed a change and felt different. The thought crossed my mind on Sunday that something was up.

  • I feel the same way you do, I was even throwing up this morning but I'm probably just getting sick.

  • Everything sucks at the end but I felt fine right before with the first two.
  • Morning sickness can rear its ugly head at any time. I feel "queasy" at night, too, but that's because I have a 6-7lb baby taking up valuable stomach real estate. Hot flashes are also normal. You sound like a typical woman in her late third tri to me.

I felt completely normal before going into labor with DS. Well, as normal as you can at 38w. But no flu, cold, or sick feelings. Didn't even feel off.

  • Okay good to know!
  • I feel nauseous at night and nothing sounds good to eat but once I have something I feel better, it's like 1st trimester all over again. I figure it is just part of the ride!
