Toddler dishes

DS is now getting interested in having his own bowls and plates to eat from instead of just off his tray. Problem is, he dumps everything over. I've seen some bowls and plates with suction cups on the bottoms... Do those even work well? Has anyone found some good ones? I've tried the tommee tippy suction mat and I think that is a joke.

Also, has anyone used the snack catchers like these? How are they at serving their purpose?

Don't fall for it. Those suction cups don't work! That's the best advice I've gotten from "pro moms."

The suction cups don't work, L pulls them off. And he can't quite seem to figure out the snack catchers just yet, so I usually have to pick food out for him.

This for us too. She still spills because she tries to grab as many as she can possibly fit in her chubby little hand then drops some on the way to her mouth, but I still really like them.

L has those, and he loves it. He picked up on how to use them quickly (if you eat the snacks with him at first they will figure it out). I think they work great!

The suction cup worked well for us, but wore out over time. The snack catchers usually make a little mess, but we like them for dry snacks. They do help avoid spills.

I just bought the dishes, cups, and bowls from IKEA. They're cheap and are perfect.

We don't like either. DS can pull off the suction bowls and he just turns over and shakes the snack catchers.

I don't like the snack catchers, at least not for puffs. He just pushes down the flaps and dumps out the puffs.
The suction cups only work to present a challenge to my child. As soon as he realizes he can't pick it up easily he puts all his force into it and then it pops off and stuff flies everywhere. At least that was my experience.

We use simple nuby and munchkin brand plates. No suction, just solid colored plastic and they work just fine for us. DD doesn't flip them over. We have also tried the snack catcher but DD takes fist culls and when she pulls her hand out puffs go flying. Not a fan.

We use the snack catchers - they are great! It took him a couple days to figure it out, but now he loves it. We do find stray cheerios all over the house....so if you have a dog he/she will be very happy!

I was wondering the same thing about bowls and plates - when to start that? We have suction cup bowls, but DS just pulls on it with all his might until he gets it off....not good.

C did great with the snack catchers, O not so much.
I has been using all over Cs baby plaes and utensils. Just normal plastic ones no suction. Lots of them are princess or Dora

I like the snack catcher. Works well for us. We haven't really used plates or bowls yet. But we have a ton from DD1.

I love the snack catcher, especially when we are on the go. It took DD about a week or two to figure it out. Sometimes she makes a mess, but my dogs eat up the spilled Cheerios.

My kid loves those snack catchers! It took her a little while to get it down, but now that she understands it, it's her go-to.

@LiliDragon yes, he does try and gets *most* of the food in his mouth. 90% of the time he will give it a good three or four attempts with the utensils before throwing them on the floor and using his hands. Forks are a lot easier for him.

I just have regular kid sized plates and bowls for Amir and Nene. Even though Nene is 6 she still eats small portions. We skipped the suction, I knew that would be a trap ready to happen. Never tried the with the snack taps. They just look like trouble.
