Zoloft

Hey girls! So I am on 25 mg zoloft. Is anyone else on this or any antidepressants while in their third tri? I just want my baby to be safe!

Re: Zoloft

  • I tried Zoloft and Celexa but they made me horribly sick :( I'm happy to hear it's working for you and that other women are taking care of their depression needs. It's hard to talk about sometimes.

  • Just started 25 mg Zoloft this week. Going up to 50 next week (dr is testing it) both OB and pediatrician said Zoloft or any SSRI drug is safe during 3rd trimester and while breastfeeding

  • Have you talked to your OB or pediatrician about how to deal with LO's withdrawals? I was on Zoloft about ten years ago, and the withdrawals from stopping the medication were quite awful. I'm glad to hear you are getting help for depression/anxiety. I would just be prepared for any effects LO will experience after birth. Sometimes, knowing up front and having a plan in

  • Sorry, fat fingers. Sometimes having a plan in place can reduce anxiety.

  • I have been taking Wellbutrin & have researched it thoroughly. Recent studies support that such a negligible amount is excreted in breast milk that it has no effect on LO. On the other hand having a depressed mom would have bad effects on LO! Take care of yourself for LO.
  • I'm currently in Zoloft. I was for DS1 too. I am still debating weaning off, and then going right back on after birth. I'm a bit conflicted though :-/

  • I told DH that I need to talk to my doc about getting back on Lexapro or another anti-anxiety med after I have the baby. I've been meaning to ask how it could affect breastfeeding, I haven't had a chance to really look into it yet.

I was on it at the start of pregnancy and came off within a week. Withdrawl was a little rough but totally worth it for the health of LO. My doctor said that's the one they ideally like to use for ppd for nursing moms. I'll be watching closely for signs if ppd, but so far I haven't had any problems during pregnancy.

    Why go off now?

My OB suggested I go off during third tri, so the baby weans off it that way (I'm not breast feeding). However, then to restart taking it right after I have him. I've been on it for anxiety and panic attacks for years.

He said it's totally my decision. I stayed on it the entire time with DS1, and he's perfectly fine.
