Normal?

Since just yesterday, DD(8 months old) has been keeping her hands in fists. She won't open them to grab something like she did a couple days ago. I have to open her hands for her. She is even picking up things with her fists. Is this some weird thing that babies just do or do I need to be concerned?

I shouldn't have googled this but I did. Now I am stressing myself out.

She has her 9 month appt next Friday.

  • They are not tight when I open them and she will hold what I give her after I open them. If I show her something then she tries to pick it up with her fists.

Why are you encouraging her bombarding a serious thread about a mom being worried about her baby with her stupidity? Just curious

Its okay Hav. I shouldn't have responded in the first place.

  • fwiw, DD does this sometimes. If I pry her little fingers open and put a toy in it then she will play with the toy. Eventually, she puts it back down and makes the fists again. You daughter is a little older than Lily but it's probably the same thing. Just figuring out the best way to hold things or something.
  • Thanks you two. I pm'd Hav, but I am pretty sure it is a coping mechanism for erupting teeth. I gave her some infant tylenol and now she is fine. Grabbing everything. I will try to remember to keep this updated if that changes.
