I've bought two nb outfits & my mother in law has been buying her 3 months & up outfits I was just wondering how many nb outfits does one need since they do grow fast. STM help thank you :]
Ummm just gonna ignore troll posts ^... OP with my DD I really didn't need a lot of newborn stuff maybe like a pack of onesies and like 4 pj's but they didn't last long at all... 0-3 are better IMO because they have room to grow and you can use them a little bit longer.
EDD for #2 is December 8th, 2013, so excited for our 2nd team green baby!
My DD was in newborns until 7 weeks or so, 0-3 was too big. Just have a few on hand and go out and get more, or send someone else, after you figure out what works for you.
Mine were in newborn for about 3 weeks. I have about 12 newborn outfits but I used gowns with them mostly when they were itty bitty. For 1 it was easier to change their diapers in the middle of the night and 2 they can wear them up to about 2-3 months old instead of just a few weeks.
Our fist DD wore newborn stuff for about 2omths, she was and still is very petite. Our 2nd only wore nb for 2-3 weeks. I'd get a few packs of nb onesies and maybe 3-4 pj's. you can always buy more if needed.
I bought a few premie sleepers for the first couple weeks. Both my girls wore newborn for maybe 2 months. It really depends on their size at birth. SIL's babies were all over 9 pounds and never wore newborn.
My son was in newborn clothes for about 4 months then moved to zero to three months for another 4 months when I first had him he was in preemie for 2-3 weeks
My daughter fit into newborn stuff for about 6 weeks, she was born 7lbs 7 oz, so she wasn't that big but not small either. You can always buy and keep your receipts depending on the stores return policy. I have been buying fuzzy sleepers on sale and at consignment stores as I go along. I know the baby will live in footie sleepers for the first month at least. Dressing newborns is hard, they really want to be in a ball still.
It was recommended to me that I will only need a few NB outfits. I think I have like, three. But my brothers and I all weighed more than 9lbs, and I don't know of any babies in hubs' family there were less than 8.5lbs, so I'm thinking I'm probably not too worried about it.
Honestly, I've also heard of just throwing a sleepsac on and leaving it at that. Like @liz429 I'm not planning on venturing out. I'm in Iowa, right on the Mississippi and the farmer's almanac says it's going to be rough this winter.
DS was 9 lb, 12 oz so he barely fit into nb stuff at birth. 0-3 mos clothes might be a little big at first, but so what? It's not like they're walking or crawling.
I'd get a few, ie 3-4 nb sleepers or long sleeve onesies and pants and the rest. 0-3. If you need more b/c lo is small you can always pick more up later and you know you'll use the. 0-3 eventually.
It also depends on the brand. My ODS and my YDD were both over 9 lbs and both wore NB (Carter's brand, but not Gerber) for the first 2-3 months before they moved to the 0-3 months clothes. This time I'm buying 0-3 months, but I'm not sure why because he is the first baby that hasn't measured bigger and he might actually be a "normal" size baby.
I'm with MrsHoffman My DD was 8lbs4oz and never really fit into newborn stuff. She was 21 1/2 inches long. Has your Dr. said anything about how big your LO is measuring in there? If he/she is measuring big I would just get some 3+ months stuff. Baby won't know it's too big because there will be no tripping on the clothing for a while.
Why are you planning for a premature birth? You say your dr will not let you go over a certain number of weeks. Why is it I know dr prefer to keep any baby wither it be a single or multiples in for a long time. You have other medical conditions besides type 2 what are they? Just cause your having a multiples does not necessarily mean you have to deliver early.. I serioudly hope your not doing this because you do not want to be total uncomfortable for the last 4-6 weeks...
I don't know if these exist outside of Canada, but I went to Once Upon a Child the other day. They sell used clothing and all of it I saw was in perfect condition and all brand names (I even got a really cute Calvin Klein onesie lol). I got 10 onesies for $10 and 5 sleepers for $10. I just figure she'll grow out of them so fast, there's no point in spending a fortune on new. I was really impressed. Of course I'll wash everything myself, just in case, but I brought them over to my Mom's to show her today and she was really impressed at the condition and quality of them...

Im right on the Mussissippi too! Worst winter in 100 yrs is what theyre calling for!
The only NB clothes we have I bought from a second-hand clothing store. My husband and I are both over 6' tall.
I've been told by all my mommy friends that they didn't really use NB clothes at all. So we've started out with just 0-3 months and now mostly we're focusing on 6-9 months now. I think we have about twelve 0-3 month outfits.
However, we have our shower at the end of October so I'm sure we'll get more at that point.
I bought about 15-20 NB outfits. I figured I would buy more if necessary but I expect to go through lots of clothing changes for a little while and figured this way I wouldn't have to wash clothes all day lol. I was told by friends to expect 3 or so changes per day, is that correct ladies?
It depends. Mine was a spitter so we changed her quite a bit! And the diaper blowouts. *Shudders* I think that's a good amount. I have that many footed pajamas waiting for her. They are the best thing ever!

Most of our newborn clothes are footed pjs lol. The pink bear one with ears is still my fave
I have a weakness for ears on hoods. It is freaking cute!
I only have a few NB outfits because DH and I were both 9+lbs. However, LO has been measuring right at 50th percentile, so I plan on getting more since I may have an average sized baby after all. I'm probably going to get most of them secondhand in case they don't get much use.
Definitely depends on how big LO is. My DS is little, he was only 5 lbs 9 oz at birth. He wore preemie for the first 2 weeks and NB for about 2 months. Everyone told me not to worry about buying NB size, so we only had 0-3months. I ended going to once-upon-a-child after we were discharged from the hospital and buying a lot of preemie and NB outfits. If your LO is average size, you'll be fine with 0-3 and only a few NB
After 2years TTC and 1yr,2mo waiting for an adoption match, our blessing is here!

BFP #2 EDD 10/2015
My 8lb 12oz baby wore NB clothes for over 6 weeks. Except Gerber. Gerber runs super small.
