Here goes nothing

I've posted a lot about how my LO refuses all bottles. Well, I finally agreed to try the "she'll take a bottle if she's hungry enough" thing after everyone and their mother has been telling me it will work. I'm not a huge fan of the idea, but DH has been bugging me for a long time to at least try it.

So here I am at the salon for a pedicure and haircut. By the time I get back home, I will have been gone for about 3 hours and LO eats about every 2 hours. She only ate a little bit before I left and she didn't nap all that well this morning, so she already wasn't at her happiest when I left.

But it's been ages since my last pedicure and I was mid-pregnancy at my last haircut. I have makeup on and I brought my purse instead of just throwing my wallet in the diaper bag. I'm soooo looking forward to the first "me time" I've had since M was born. Just hoping I get home to a happy, bottle-fed baby!

Hope you can enjoy yourself a little! DS took a bottle for the first time in 7wks Wednesday night while I was getting my haircut. Fingers crossed:)

I've been back to work since Labor Day and LO still doesn't really take the bottle. Maybe a couple ounces to curb her hunger. She doesn't fuss though. It's strange.

you'd all have to look at it until February.

My LO refuses the bottle too. I wasn't willing to submit to the "if she is hungry enough" method. A few days ago I watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9ElS-RW7gM
It has Changed My Life! I was super skeptical about cup feeding a baby that young but it totally works. She has drank from it at least 4 times since Tuesday and has never refused it when offered.

    Good Luck!

Enjoy your time! I plan on doing the same thing to get her consistent with the bottle before we start DC in a few weeks... I'm going for a pedi and taking a new book to lunch. Just hope my fsil has as much patience as she's thought to have... Let us know how it goes!

So DH said she chewed on the bottle nipple and took in about 1/2 ounce doing so. But she never latched and sucked. He also said she wasn't very fussy. But once I was home she was definitely crying to eat. :( I guess she's one of those reverse cycling type if babies.

We will be looking at cups next. Thanks for the Doidy cup rec.

Jayro, does LO take a paci? Marty doesn't. With the bottle and paci she chews and plays but doesn't latch on or suck. I've tried a couple sippy cups. I guess I'm off to amazon for the doidy!

@drhibbard no, she won't take a paci either. She does exactly as you described! Is your LO as picky with cups as she is with bottles? I suppose that's another battle...finding a cup she'll take.

I've only tried three cups so far. They were all meant for 12 months though since that's what I had from my shower. I just ordered the doidy and I'm heading to BRU in a bit. Based on some Internet reading, I'm going to get the nuby and tommy tippee cups meant for 4 to 6 months. Also from reading, EBF babies who refuse the bottle often have very strong sucking abilities and do well with a straw. Per the name of your post, I'll try it cause "here goes nothing!"
