Crib climbers

So DD is climbing EVERYTHING; our tv stand, stools, on top of her toy box, the couch, etc. And I'm terrified the crib is next. The mattress is already lowered as far down as possible. And there is nothing in there but a stuffed animal. What do I do????? I literally cannot turn my back.

    I would get the stuffed animal out, since she may try using it to climb. If she seems close to being able to climb out when there is nothing in the crib, then it's probably best to stop using it, and either use toddler bed or mattress on the floor.

    Get a crib tent. She's too little for a toddler bed. Also, make sure her crib is away from other furniture. I had Howell's next to his dresser before we moved him and realized what a dumb idea that was when the time came to move him.

    A crib tent? I'll have to look up what that is. With a new LO coming we wanted to attempt moving her to a toddler bed around 18/19 months but I feel like now is too soon. Sometimes she wakes up before us and is quiet. I can't imagine what she would end up doing in her room before we got her lol

    Are they even still selling crib tents? They can be quite dangerous.

    Yeah. I'd never heard of it until my sister got one. Her son fell out trying to climb out of his crib. They're mesh and go over the top to keep them from falling out.

    W sleeps in a PNP and I'm still afraid he'll figure out how to climb out. He doesn't walk, but he climbs up the couch, And on everything else. Yesterday I found him on the second shelf of the changing table.

    I just did some skimming research and seems like they don't even sell the tents anymore except at a few places. Most were recalled. So on to another plan.

    we are having the same problem with DD- she's a climber!

    I watch her VERY closely on the video monitor to make sure she isn't climbing up on the rails.

    A friend of mine said her DD1 used to climb out of her crib and to stop her she got a thinner mattress. So it was almost like another level on the crib- she said it helped.

    If you do go with a toddler bed, make sure the room is completely baby proofed and she can't get to the rest of the house. Anchor all the heavy furniture, a tv (if you have one) etc. Make sure wires, blind strings, etc. aren't in reach. I know you probably know this, just putting it out there :)

    I personally wouldn't want to go this route unless you absolutely have to. Going to a toddler bed can be difficult. Our son took several months to get back to a normal sleep routine, because he wanted to play in the middle of the night. He would fall asleep in the most random places.

    I've heard it's good to put bells on the door so you know if you have an escapee.
