I just started a new job about a month ago. It's an office manager position. I like the job. My issue is the pay and benefits. The salary isn't great but I expected that with this field. The benefits are lousy too. The company does not offer any employee a 401(k), life ins, or any benefits like that. The health insurance stinks too. They don't even offer insurance coverage for spouse or children.
I just don't understand how a company expects you to take them seriously and make a career out of it when the compensation isn't even half decent. I have not had many jobs, The previous companies I have worked for have offered great benefit packages. I guess my question is... Do the companies you girls all work for offer benefits like life insurance, 401(k), etc? I think the company I work for now is more of "mom-and-pop" type and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with that. Thoughts?
Re: Job dilemma/vent
Personally, if pay wasn't an issue, I'd choose a smaller company every time.
It is hard for small companies to afford these things.
A note on health insurance... DH and both get some from work but it's not a lot so we decided to purchase our own after LO was born to make she is taken care of. Maybe you could buy something on your own?
