What are you feeding LOs now? Emmalyn is wanting more and more finger type food and I don't know what to give her other than whatever i eat. Anything easy you are doing? Or anyone doing those gerber meals?
I make mini meals for D using Rienzi's i bambini pasta, the carrot or the spinach flavors. I boil the pasta, grill/roast some meat and dice or shred it up into small pieces, then I mix in some pureed vegetables.
I just made a batch last night that had carrot pasta, carrot puree, sweet potato puree, and left over roast beef. Mixed it all together, put in containers and then put in the freezer.
now she pretty much eats what we eat, though I try not to give her junk. I just cut up whatever veggie and protein we are eating, and give her that for her dinner. I do give her leftovers, too, because I never am able to make a new meal every day-- I just keep things refrigerated and use for a few days. I keep shredded cheese, frozen peas, avocado, yogurt, and tofu on hand for easy things to round out a meal.
A typical day:
Bfast: cereal (either baby cereal or cheerios), 2-3oz yogurt, cut up fresh fruit
lunch: 2-3 oz cubed firm tofu, 3-4 oz veggie pieces (favorites are peas, broccoli, sweet potato, squash),
dinner: veggie pieces (or stir-fry that we are eating), shredded meat or mashed beans, cut up fresh fruit, sometimes pasta, rice, bread or cut up tortilla
I do have jars on hand for busy days or when we are out of the house, but I would not rely on Gerber meals for daily use-- too processed and usually too sugary (even if sweetened with natural fruit).
She is still on chunky purees, with some finger foods tossed in. We fell behind a few times this month. She stopped eating and lost a pound while she was sick, so we had to coax her back onto solids by introducing watered down juice...and then juice..and then water purees..and then cereal etc..
We have a few more things to clear re: testing before I would be comfortable giving her what we eat for dinner. At the moment, I try to replicate it with homemade purees and soft solids. I chop up little bits of pear and avocado for LO sometimes. She gets couscous and quinoa on a occasion. We've been giving her these rice wafers to chew, and a few of the melt away cereal pieces. The plan is to start giving her a de-salted version of what we are actually eating sometime next week.
EDIT - but for breakfast she nurses and gets a bottle. She gets another bottle mid-morning. For lunch she gets a selection of vegetables, fruit chunky purees and cereal (oats, barley, wheat, or wheat biscuit depending). Mid afternoon another bottle. When I get home she nurses. For dinner she gets veggies, fruit chunky purees, cereal and a bunch of protein - we are on a pork kick at the moment, but usually it flips between chunkier chicken, beef or pork purees. I throw a dollop of yogurt and fruit on her cereal. A few oz of water at dinner to boot. We finish off with a bottle right before bed. She gets melt away wafers for a snack or dessert depending.
Re: Food
the gerber meals have so much added crap in them... she eats what we eat, we have organic pouches and jars on hand for when we need it
breakfast - cut up fruit and 1 egg or some pancakes made with fruit
lunch ( this one is harder b/c we tend to graze) quesadilla or leftovers from dinner
dinner whatever we eat but if we are eating late i'll give her a pouch (4oz) to tide her over
she loves them..:) all in all she eats about a quarter of it and I use organic corn tortillas....then she gets a couple spoonfuls of black beans

Lunch: cheese, fruit, yogurt sometimes if he's still hungry.
Dinner: chicken, tortillas, veggies.
I need to try more things. He does so great with finger foods now. When we go out I'll give him our food, pasta, turkey meat, potatoes, etc.
