Anyone else's LO "hate" sitting up?

I'm trying not to let this bother me, but I'd be lying if I said it isn't. Just wanted to see if there are any other May babies like mine. DS seems to hate sitting up. Sometimes when I play with him I lay on the sofa on my back with my legs bent and my feet flat on the sofa (so knees pointing up) and I prop him on my stomach leaning against my thighs. I sing to him and play games I've made up. I've been doing this for a long time, probably a couple of months, and he's always enjoyed it. In the last couple of weeks though I've noticed he is tolerating that position for shorter and shorter periods. He'll lean back and try to straighten his body in protest, often times trying to roll over right on my lap. Also when I try to prop him in the corner of the sofa so he can play with some toys like a rattle or his o-ball he'll purposefully wiggle to slither down and lay flat on his back. He also hates the Summer Infant super seat I got him (similar to Bumbo). I was thinking it would be nice to walk him around in the mall in his stroller one day soon without his infant seat, but I realized he would probably hate it. So last night I did a test run in the house, and he screamed unless he was constantly moving and tried to wriggle down.

I guess he just isn't ready, which also means we can't start solids yet. Which is fine, I'd rather wait until 6 months anyway. But I just hope he will like sitting by then. Or maybe it's a preference thing? He loves tummy time and is always trying to crawl. Sitting just doesn't seem to be on his radar.

My LO loves it. Loves it so much that is ALL he wants to do. Tries to sit up in the bathtub, while nursing, hates the car seat because it is too reclined. So enjoy your reclined time still!!!

Marty hates all that too. She is nowhere near sitting up. BUT I try the stroller twice a week and yesterday was the first day she was cool with it. She was moving the whole time though. She's 5/31 so a little younger than Logan. She hates the corner of the couch and the bumbo. If I put her in the seam of the couch between two seats she's happier though. Edited for typos

My LO is just over 4 months and doesn't enjoy sitting up very much either. She gets ticked off in her bumbo and highchair. The only way she'll sit is if she's on my lap facing the table so she can try and get whatever I have in front of me! She also less the stroller but I think they'd because she's too distracted by everything around her to care about her position.

This! She wants to sit up everywhere now. I sometimes miss when she loved to just lay back lol

Arching his back and squirming down is definitely one of DS' s new things and he will do it whenever he is in a position to do so, but I don't think it's because he doesn't like sitting. He does fine in his summer infant seat, so I think it's just that he enjoys this new found ability. I don't know if that is the case for your guy though, since he doesn't enjoy the summer infant seat. Hopefully it's just a short phase. :-/

My LO does the arching back thing now too when I have her sitting on my lap. Really, I think she's just trying to stand up. When she arches her back like that, I help her get to standing and that's what she really loves.

Oh I totally miss it. We used to be able to go out to eat. Not anymore because he wants to sit up but is way too little for the wooden high chairs they have.

He does like to stand on my lap. And he loves his jumperoo and exersaucer.

My guy LOVES to sit and "stand". That is all he wants to do these days. But he HATES sitting in something like the bumbo or the bouncer thingy we got him. He only wants to sit while you are holding him in a sitting position. I try to do it a lot but you can only hold him sitting for so long. If he would sit in his little bumbo chair it would be much easier for him to sit for longer periods of time.

He has started to really like standing too. As soon as you put him in sitting position he pushes up with his legs to stand. He has got so good at this that I do not even need to help him get up he gets his own body up I just hold him to stabilize him.
