DH got a new Job!

I know that I posted awhile back about my DH getting 'terminated' from his old job (was there for 6 years with no record of issues and always great reviews). They labeled it termination because they didn't want to pay him a laid off package. He has been collecting unemployment and searching for a new job for the last two months. He also has been getting closer to DS which is awesome and doing projects around the house... but anyway... The beginning of this year he made a New Years Resolution to switch careers into development (what I do... and you shouldn't be at our dinner table :P) He went out of his comfrot zone and applied for a .Net Developer job 9 minutes away from our place. DH even told me about this position awhile ago but he didn't apply since he doesn't have any real world development experience. Well he did apply and they brought him in for a interview and then a second. They gave him an email offer letter that said "No less then" what he was making at his old position (They asked for what he was being paid at his old job)... So we all automatically amused that they would come back with what he was making at his old job, which is still great, he really wanted to do this career move! Well they gave him a official offer letter making 9% more then what he was making. We both are floored!! The benefits are meh, and he doesn't get much sick time. Only 12 days vacation/sick time. However, I carry good health insurance and he is covered secondary on me so that helps with health care. He starts on Monday and DS starts at a center near our house (4minutes away) however I'm not really fond of it. Their menu is what really bothers me. There isn't many places in our area that he can go to unless I bring him into the City with me which the DCs are better, but their play areas are small and my morning would be even more earlier then my 5:30am wake up time. DH said lets try it out to see if we like it... He is going to stop in on Monday to see him during lunch.

My issue is now DH won't be able to come to the Autonomy Scan... He said to just call him... but I would rather have the US tech write it down and we can find out together. Any suggestions? I'm pretty bummed about this. :'(

Congrats on his new job!  I remember your post from a while back, so I'm glad to hear he found something good.  If my H couldn't come to the scan, I would have them write it down so we could open it together.  Or you could ask them to call and leave a voicemail on your phone, and you could listen together.

ETA: Do you have an iphone with Facetime?  If your tech/doctor didn't mind, maybe you could do that during the scan so he could kind of be there with you.

  • Woohoo!

I like the idea of having them write it out in an envelope so you could both find out together.

And I would LOVE to be at your dinner table, lol. DH is a hard-core developer and I do web design/dev, but know *just* enough to be dangerous.

  • I would do the write it down and find out together thing. I think finding out is important time for both, and in my case I had to change the date so DH could attend.

The only other option would maybe pay for an elective ultrasound that could be done in the evening or weekend when you both were free.

We should totally double date!!! It would be so much fun!
