I was just thinking about how there are certain things that I am drawn to that as my DH would say "make me a big nerd". I love buying an collecting antiques, but not just any antiques. I like odd things. Rosary beads, tarot cards, obscure books, etc. I just like the odd stuff.
I also love learning/reading about Mormonism although I'm a Catholic.
What weird interests/obsessions do you have?
P.S. I may have just told you far too much about myself;)
Re: What are your weird interest/obsessions?
Crazy - I just wrote this to Michelle on facebook, regarding a book I got today:

I would like to own some farm animals. I'm always looking for houses that have enough acreage for at least a couple sheep and llamas.
I have more, but can't think right now.

Another crime show watcher here- though DH always gets frustrated because some of them freak me out, but I still watch them.
I also love the medical mystery type shows...
I love watching TV crime documentary type shows, like the ones they show on MSNBC.
I'm also intrigued by unusual medical shows or just medical shows in general, like the ones on Discovery (Untold Stories of the ER, Mystery Diagnosis.
I love to analyze dreams. Although, I still have yet to get a dream book. Maybe I should add that to my Christmas wishlist.
I often think I should've been a FBI agent or something.
I also was pretty dang good at picking out forgeries at my work.
Josie- I took an awesome Sleep & Dream class at UCSD. (It was a psych class- so it even went toward my major.)
I think I still have a book or two... I can send them to you! I'll email you.
Hehehe...I always joke with DH that I would love to be a CIA agent. Undercover. My dad used to teach on Thursday nights and my mom and I would always watch Rescue 911- don't know if you ever watched that show, but we LOVED it. Never missed an episode- it started my fascination with medical/crime shows.
You got me all excited!
In high school, I was obsessed with suicide, not for me, (I have always been greatful fir life, maybe thats my adopted self speaking) just about how and why people resorted to death as an end.
I am now obsessed with snowboarding, not anything fascinating, but it is my favorite hobby/obsession.... and I do have many!
br
My mom just came back from Russia and brought me back a book about Nicholas II and the fam.
That's cool! I went through a phase a few years ago where I read absolutely everything I could find about them.
I forgot my other obsession: Audrey Hepburn. I've read a few of her biographies and now I'm working my way through all of her movies!
Hehehehe, yup we watched Rescue 911, too....funny!
I'm an obsessed knitter! You'd all have me committed if you saw the massive quantities of yarn I have stored in plastic tubs all over the house. Suffice it to say that if I stopped buying yarn now and just knitted from what's it my stash (not likely), I'd be set for the next decade....
And what is up with the polygamy obsessions?! I ask because I find it endlessly fascinating, but I didn't realize the phenomenon was so widespread.
Another polygamy book recommendation: Shattered Dreams.
I am obsessed with two things, which aren't weird in and of themselves, but the extent I am obsessed with them is weird! The first I share with Marisa - Owning a Farm (or a ranch. or a resue for animals. or a big ass house with room for a zillion animals. whichever!). I want to save evey single animal I see. Especially ones that are hurt or disabled in any way. My farm would be completely usless, but it would be filled with one legged Chickens and one eyed cows. Dogs that are blind would be hearding deaf sheep. I am a sucker for animals. My heart bleeds for every single one.
And my second obsession is books. I love them. Not just reading them, but they are a security blanket for me. I have them in my car, in my purse...stashed at work, everywhere. I love how they smell. Especially old books. I love buying them, I love seeing them. I would love to own a bookstore. Tri-Reader and I once spent an afternoon detailing our dream bookstore that we would own, we even gave lots of you Nesties jobs! LOL
OK, wow that was long, but how fun is this post? I didn't know this stuff about a lot of you!
sjgiantsjo-
I took have an obsession with books and collect old volumes. I'm currently reading a copy of Jane Eyre from the 30's.
I have a morbid streak in me. I love things like rotten.com, and medical documentaries especially if they are graphic. I also love crime dramas, but I prefer the true stories, like first 48 and snapped.
I like going to garage sales and thrift stores...I generally don't buy things but I love to see what kind of stuff people had and are getting rid of.
