    My opinion... That's disgusting !!!

I thought u had to be really careful lifting heavy things due to risks of miscarriage ??

Even still it looks so wrong ... What's wrong with couple tins of beens???

Totally safe, especially since she lifted before pregnancy. You're not supposed to add things to your routine during pregnancy, but continuing your exercises is encouraged. Doctors say it's going to help her during labor.

Good for her! I wish I could still Crossfit at 8 months pregnant. Definitely don't think that's disgusting. That's hard work and dedication.

People are so dumb. My doc was fine with me doing anything I was doing before... Everyone at my old job was freaking out when I was lifting preschoolers and running around with them! I just replied "I'm pregnant not sick I'm fine"

Now I feel guilty for not exercising today.

I reposted this on Facebook earlier today. I love it! I'm so jealous and mad at myself for letting my mother get in my head and stopping P90x and running. I've stayed active and have reaped tons of benefits thus far. Future pregnancies will be full of handstands and the like! (P.S. My 'work out to-do list' is wayyy longer than my 'eat/drink to-do list' once LO arrives!)

I wish I was fit enough to do this.  I'm embarrassingly out of shape right now.  Kudos to her for taking care of herself.

If I get pregnant again, I vow to not stop Crossfitting. I wish I would have stayed with it! I am so jealous of this lady and I think she looks beautiful! A total inspiration!

    Disgusting?! Really?

You can lift whatever you lifted before you got pregnant. And this chick is probably going to have an easier delivery because of it! CrossFitting pregnant is amazing. I hate that I stopped! I stopped because I got the "screw it" mentality - not because it was dangerous or I physically couldn't do it. Pure laziness! And I regret it

    Yes really .... "MY OPINION"

I hope you ain't aiming that dumb comment at me !!

What so I didn't know? I'm dumb... Maybe give my midwife a quick call and call her dumb too cos that's what I've always been told...

Shall I go round calling all the people that got told different things to what my widwife told me "dumb" too?

My widwife moans at me if I just sit straight up instead of going onto my side first !

Also I did say "opinion" and even if you can do it it looks wrong... Even if she wasn't pregnant I don't like that look... Even when men are too big lifting I don't like it doesn't look natural.

So can you all get off my back now jeez I hardly said anything to offend...

It's obviously a very good thing to stay fit and healthy during pregnancy and it's great that this woman can continue pretty much exactly as before but frankly I think she's being selfish (look at me, I'm such a hot mom!) and taking a totally unnecessary risk to herself and her baby.

Not that I was ever really "fit" but my plans of continuing to eat healthy and exercise while pregnant went out the window at week 7 when I was either puking, working, or sleeping off my exhaustion. I was already noticing increasing fatigue and SOB before I even knew I was pregnant. At this point I'm still struggling with some ms, fatigue, and heartburn and have since accepted my "screw it" fate. But props to anyone who can and DOES continue a healthy regimen while pregnant! Cause lawd knows it's hard enough to stick to when you're not.

Also my bf heard on the radio a few days ago that woman who are over doing it with exercise whilst pregnant can harm their unborn babies.. And apparently there's some word for it he couldn't remember .. True story...

I suppose the radio is dumb aswell ...

Slightly different but a friend of mine continued to go to the gym right up to her due date. She went spinning and went to classes. People thought she was nuts. She was used to going before she fell pregnant and her baby is beautiful and healthy and so is she. She actually attended my engagement party 2 days after giving birth last year. I have heard that it helps for an easier delivery if you stay active. I wish I'd have carried on at the gym but people put me off too and I caved lol x

My doctor told me that if you already exercise regularly, and you're not uncomfortable, to go for it. I think the "over doing it" applies to women who already aren't in great shape, or maybe who have risky pregnancies. He encouraged to me to work out as much as I want so long as I'm not uncomfortable.

He also let me know that labor and delivery would be about a million times easier and that exercise is good for the baby.

Personally, I don't think you were being dumb so much as rude. In my opinion, women should just be kind to each other. We get enough flack for "looking disgusting" from everyone else. She's pregnant. She's healthy. She's a bad ass. She's beautiful.

Edit: Also, just sayin', some radio stations are dumb. I mean, unless it's like BBC or NPR I don't really trust it. Just throwing that out there.

Yeah, I'm glad she is promoting exercising during pregnancy. However, I was told 50 lb lifting limit by my MD. I also remember having the sheep scared out of me about heavy lifting during the L&D portion nursing school.

People do dumb things, and I could see women who are not in shape, and/or are a lot less further along, causing complications or hurting themselves, because they saw her didn't read the article, and lifted something heavy.

At my 8 week, I asked the midwife (work has a 75lb lifting requirement) about lifting. She DID say to keep it to 50lbs.
I have probably done a bit more at times, BUT only when transferring from one surface to another. Generally, I only lift what is waist level, because there would be strain lifting off the ground.
I also work with some awesome guys, and they really don't let me lift anything they deem too heavy.
Also we have procedures for safe lowering and lifting, and one of our most important guidelines is "Know your OWN limits".
From a personal standpoint, pregnant or not, I love a sculpted look, and for me, there's a point at which both men and women cross over into unattractive. The whole bulk and veins thing just doesn't do it for me.
I think this momma looks healthy. I wish i could have kept up the workouts. My m/s got so bad, that I couldn't even lift a 25lb box at work, I was so weak. So I still work, got my strength back, but haven't been to the gym since April. I'll get back there. :)

And my doctor told me. . .  nothing I don't often ask anything without doing a little research on the subject first. I know my body and if something doesn't feel right I don't do it. I don't know any woman who wouldn't put their baby's safety over everything else. Who gives an F who's doctor told who what blah blah blah! Everyone's body is different and so is everyones doctor. I feel that everyone has a right to their own opinion. Personally I'm proud of this "hot mama" or any other woman out there still exercising and eating right. My lazy ass took my pregnancy as an excuse and now I've ballooned way past where I should be and was recommended to diet and exercise anyway. I have learned my lesson and next time wont be giving up so quickly.

we have a friendship now. i says to lift is to make baby strong. strong is too big if labor is not hard then hold a football because to touch a pig would make labor easy. always hold a football.

Thanks Rumparoo! I have been so anxious about giving birth and now I know all I need to do is hold a football the whole time. :-bd
no you must hold football while baby has baby organs growing. if to hold a football while baby is having the borns this is no good.
  • Options
when baby has the borns try to hold the rope or the husband if not you fall and then the baby is hurt that is no good. to avoid this try to hold a football while the baby organs are growing and eat of the growth food.
  • Options
@hannie3, I think but for the fact that you're going to have the borns in December, not April, I think you'd be requested as a borns buddy. ;-)

A couple of cans of beans?! You can be serious, women aren't made of glass. I continue to crossfit 5 days a week and I know I'm not harming my child. I did it before and I listen to my body. So sure, squatting 120lbs or deadlifting 170 might sound really heavy and by some measures it is but it's not heavy for me. Check out crossfitmom.com, she breaks down all the workouts and has modifications for each trimester. I firmly believe that doing nothing is riskier than working out at moderate-high intensity

So much to agree with. Did anyone else notice she only put a 10lbs disc on that bar... so "hot mom" is lifting, what 65ish pounds?

65 at the most, I use a 30lb bar so for me that would only be 50. I think people get freaked by the rubber plates and regular bar as apposed to colored dumb bells
