September 2013 Moms

Leaking all. the. time.

Are anybody else's boobs like water fountains?! Sheesh!

I leak:
about 20 min before LO is hungry
when I think about DS or LO
when LO cries
when I'm nursing the "free" side leaks
after a shower
all night long

This sh*t is out of control. Oh! And I spray milk all the eff over too! I just never anticipated having so much milk at the ready at any given moment after all of the bf problems I had with DS.

Am I alone here???

Re: Leaking all. the. time.

  • Are you pumping? I'm 2 weeks pp and EBF, haven't had any leaking...but my friend has a 6 week old and she leaks like a faucet (over supply from pumping and nursing).

  • Not alone. I feel like I'm wasting it because I'm not capturing it but yes I am leaking all the time. Idk what to do about it. Especially after a shower! It's like the shower head turns off and my boobs pick up where it left off. Poor LO gets a milk shower when she pops off.

No I am not pumping. Like I said.. It is out of control lol!!

  • Not alone at all. After my shower this morning it was just dripping off both sides...I don't think I have ever rushed so much to put on a bra!!!

Haha exactly this!!! When it sprays I grab the bottle that I keep handy and hand express just a tiny bit until it calms the eff down. Sometimes I get a whole ounce during a feeding. Lol I don't need to pump and I am accumulating a huge freezer stash!
  • I guess I should try that. Better to try and have some then just let it go everywhere. It's very unattractive too, I hate when DH notices me leaking and struggling to not make a mess.
  • Same here and I have no idea where it all comes from! My boobs are tiny. Barely a B when "full" yet there is milk EVERYWHERE and on EVERYTHING!

They do make a product to catch leaking milk but I don't know if it's something you wear with a bra or if its like a cup you strap onto yourself or what lol. I also don't know how much it costs. :p I agree though, hubby makes it so awkward and I'm so nervous about NIP bc LO pulls off when it sprays.
  • I give milk shower to my poor baby girl too :( I feel. So bad because it gets all over her and soaks everything

  • Both leak like I'm a cow!! My little man keeps choking on it bc it just "flows". I go through pads like crazy. And let alone me sleeping on my side, one boob slips from a pad and gets all over my shirt, sheets, pillow etc. Out of the many issues I've had, I have to say I am glad I have this problem.
  • me too!!!! it just started for me! i'm 6 days PP and in the middle of the night i had to post a question about WTH to do. i posted in the breastfeeding forum and on my facebook, calling out to any mamas who know about BF to please message me. so thankful for people's responses. i was getting milk ALL OVER THE PLACE and both sides wouldn't stop leaking, and LO's feeding wasn't due for another our. i eventually woke up DH to wash some of the milk storage containers and i sat there catching the drops. my right side filled up .8 oz and my left about .25 (LO had last fed on this side).

    this $h!+ is insane!!

Me too! I'm even nervous in my own house when people are over. My BFF and mom were both in here just watching me as I had a crying baby and leaking boob out. Then my mom had the nerve to say "Does that make you nervous?" To which I respond "what, having an audience?" and she was like oh no I know I meant her crying.

I swear my mother is more like a MIL sometimes.
  • I have the Milkies that I use for the other side while I nurse....I don't leak anything like what some of you a r e saying but I still catch a fair amount of milk at each feeding.... I would think it could be a worthwhile purchase for you ladies.

  • My milk just came in yesterday, and I pumped a little today and couldn't believe how much I got out! I bet I'll be having this problem soon! CRAZY!

  • Exactly what I experienced with DS, and it lasted like a month! (still sort of leaked afterward, but not as a faucet like in the first month.) I also had oversupply. Feel free to get a milksaver by "milkies" -- it captures the milk from the other side when you're feeding from the one side.

  • oh and for overnight I'd wear a towel inside a large bra or inside some other sort of elastic to keep it in place. Like a towel bigger than a washcloth, just strapped across my body as best I could. 'cause breast pads just DON'T cut it in those first few weeks!

haha yeah that was me with DS! I'm hoping the milk flows well with this one, too. Size doesn't matter when it comes to supply!
