At what age did you start giving an allowance? Do you tie it to chores, behavior, or is it automatic? How much do you give? Do you require that a portion be saved or donated?
We will give an allowance (small!) with the option for them to earn more if they want/need to. The option to earn more will be at our discretion and paid based on the job done. Ie. I hate washing baseboards, but it might be worth paying the kids to do it
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
We give the kids money as a reward sometimes. They each have jars in the kitchen. I am not organized enough to have any formal chore chart or anything. For example, last night, I gave both my 3 and 5 year old a dollar for getting out of the bath, drying off, putting their PJ's on, and brushing their teeth without me having to shout at them every 20 seconds. I think it's good for them to have some money of their own.
Hmm im.not sure when ill give a real allowance, but i do give him some money now at 2. Instead of m&ms or stickers when he goes potty i give him a coin to feed his dino. (A piggy bank). He thinks its the greatest thing ever. He doesn't really get that its money or anything, he thinks he can give his dino a.treat lol.
We do commission. Meaning she picks extra chores and I pay her per job. Work get paid, don't work don't get paid. Just like real life. They have basic chores they do without getting paid because that is being part of a family.
I haven't given it much thought yet as DS is only 2. He will more than likely get a small allowance with the opportunity to earn more based on doing extra chores. Both boys having banks that we split change up and give to them. DS gets a kick out of putting coins in his bank.

We don't do a set allowance, and they do not earn money for household chores. If they do extra, bigger things like raking/bagging leaves, washing the car, help organize the garage, weed etc, we'll give them a few bucks. Then it's their choice if they spend it at the store with their friends, or save up for something.
We don't plan to give an allowance. Neither of us had one growing up so it's not something we see offering. Once they're old enough to want spending money they can get a job, babysit, mow lawns, whatever for it. They have chores but we don't tie money to that, those are just their expected contribution to the family.
