Breastfeeding

Help

Hi Mommas

So I have been breastfeeding for 5 months now and earlier this week I thought I had a clogged duct. I already had mastitis once and do not want to get that again so I massaged and did all the things my LC suggested. I think the clog is gone, but my breast still feels a little funny. It is almost the sensation that I want my son to nurse constantly on that side and do it really hard. Kind of like how teething would be. It is really weird and making me nervous! Any idea what this could be? It doesn't really hurt that bad but sometimes it does feel a little painful when he eats. Also, it can feel almost hot too around the nipple area. Could it be thrush? My son has no symptoms of that at all, and I didn't really think I did either. And it only feels like this on one side (for now).

Any help would be appreciated, I'm not used to this weird feeling! Thanks so much!! :)

Re: Help

  • Is it just one breast?  If it is then it is probably not thrush.  According to my LC thrush symptoms  usually appear on both breasts especially if you are nursing on both sides.  I thought I was developing thrush but turns out the weird tenderness/tingling was associated with ovulation.  I found out because I started charting and noticed that I had the weird tenderness only around the time I would ovulate.  Some women also experience tenderness around the time of AF. Maybe your cycle is getting ready to return?
