  • I never understood, but I had a few yeast infections and a few cases of bacterial vaginosis my last pregnancy, it sucked!

  • How many times should pregnant women get yeast infections? Um, 0?

Seriously, I don't know that it's "normal" to get more yeast infections if you're pregnant, but I've never had any.  I would talk to your OB.

Apparently, pregnant women actually are more prone to them. I don't remember why that is but probably related to the changes happening in that region of the body. It probably affects the chemistry too.

  • It actually is more common for pregnant women to get a yeast infection.
  • Well, how many times should pregnant women get them... never. Call your doctor.

  • I know that you are more prone to them when pregnant, I had one in the early weeks in a prior pregnancy. Here's the thing too: you need to let things completely heal from one infection (like 2ish weeks) before you have sex again. I'm not sure how long you're waiting but things need to completely clear up.

  • Thanks ladies .. I'm 7 weeks and 4 days today and it probably hasn't cleared up from the first one.. My OB gave me some vaginal cream. So i will see within 7 days.
  • I never had a YI until I was pregnant...I had quite a few in that 9 month span :/  Definitely sucked.
  • Try using a condom. It may sound silly because you are already pregnant. I had a similar problem my first pregnancy.
  • Talk to your doc.  Your pH level changes with pregnancy, so it can be easier to get them, but you may not be completely getting rid of the first one.

Yes you definitely want to make sure that you AND your DH are getting rid of it before having intercourse again. It's possible you are just passing it back and forth.. And yes, it Is possible for a man to give you a yeast infection. Ask your doc for advice on how to make sure you BOTH are getting rid of it

  • For me, YI are always hormone-related (right around my period); that being said, I've never had an issue while pregnant with them.

  • I am also in the 2014 club, and I have had issues with the YI too. Some women are just more prone during pregnancy. :-( So far, my OB has given me 4 pills of diflucan and I am about to try OTC medicine as well. If that doesn't work, I want my OB to culture the yeast because all these medicines only treat Candida yeast- not other yeast, like gabriella.
In addition, I would recommend trying to change your diet- avoid any excess sugars, and try to eat yogurt with live cultures. They also make probiotic pills, which I may look into!
