Anyone else's LO particularly clingy lately or wanting to be held CONSTANTLY!? My DD is absolutely fine at daycare all day, and the teachers tell me she is independent and smiley and happy, but as soon as we get home, she will not let me put her down. She clings for her dear life if I try to put her down, and if I am successful, she just cries at my feet or latches on to my legs.
I imagine some of it is separation anxiety, since I work all day, but it's just me she does this with. She won't even go to DH. She's getting heavy, and there are certain things I need to do (like go to the restroom) where holding her just isn't an option. Do you think I should take a hard line on this? or assume this is just a phase where she needs some mommy love and ride it out? Anyone else in the same boat?
Re: Clingy?
I feel like it's separation anxiety too! Ian will let me put him down but he follows me everywhere...or grabs hold of me(head shoved up my rear end!) He doesn't necessarily want me holding him but just needs to be "near" me. If I'm doing something where I can't give him my full attention I try to distract him...like if I'm cooking, I will sit him on the kitchen counter at the sink. He loves playing in the sink. If I'm going to the bathroom, he just follows me in and tells me I'm stinky, lol. I really do think it's a phase and probably has a lot to do with the fact that you work...but maybe not completely, Ian follows his sitter around everywhere too. I suggest trying some extra mommy love. Include her in on whatever you may be doing, if you can, that way she's still with you(and learning at the same time). Let her wash the veggies, or hold the spoon, or be involved if it's something she can do, obviously.
