Stats: Born 9.18.13 at 8:28pm
7lb. 4oz. and 20in. long
Cliff's Notes Version: 40-wk appointment showed me at 1.5cm, but with low fluid. Doc sent me to L&D for induction. 4 hours after induction began, I was at 10cm. Pushed her out in 5min and no tearing (woohoo EPO!).
Long Version: I went in for my 40-wk checkup in the morning on 9.18. Ultrasound showed low fluid levels and no leak. Since I was 40+2, the doc didn't want to risk the levels to drop more causing the baby to compress the umbilical cord. He sent me to L&D that afternoon for an induction. Since DH and I work together, I went to work to finish last minute items and to pick up DH.
I was admitted at 2pm, but had to wait for a room until 4pm. Pitocin was started immediately and my water was broken at 5:30pm. My contractions picked up and I asked for the EPI at 6:30pm and 4cm. By 8pm, I was experiencing VERY strong contractions and felt the need to push. The doc checked me and I was 10cm. After everything was set up, I began pushing. 3 pushes and 5 minutes later, Annabel was born! No tearing or anything! I credit the EPO for that. It was a surprisingly quick delivery and I'm glad it was induced or I may not have made it had it started on its own, especially since the drive from home to the hospital is 45min with no traffic.
